Meet Grover, a 5-year-old gentleman who has shown incredible resilience through several health challenges. Diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), he has been successfully managed with a tailored diet, careful monitoring, and medical treatment. Our vet, Christiaan, has been privileged to look after Grover throughout his journey, helping to keep his condition stable and his quality of life high.

More recently, Grover developed urinary tract issues, including blood in his urine and bladder inflammation. Following further testing and an abdominal ultrasound, no stones or structural abnormalities were found. With treatment, dietary management, and ongoing support, his symptoms have improved significantly.

Today, Grover is doing well, with his IBD remaining stable and his urinary health closely monitored. His story is a wonderful example of how dedicated owners, ongoing veterinary care, and tailored treatment plans can help pets with chronic conditions enjoy a happy and comfortable life 💚

Meet Primrose 🧡
Primrose is a sweet 10-year-old Pomeranian who came to The Woodbridge Vets after suddenly becoming lame on her left hind leg.

Following examination and x-rays, Primrose was diagnosed with a complete rupture of the cruciate ligament in her left knee - a painful orthopaedic condition that required surgery to restore comfort and stability.

Primrose underwent corrective orthopaedic surgery on her left hind leg with our vet Laurie, who repaired the ruptured ligament and stabilised the knee to help improve her long-term mobility and comfort. Throughout her stay, she also received dedicated nursing care from our RVN Hannah, who helped keep Primrose comfortable, supported, and closely monitored during her recovery 🧡

Despite such a big procedure for a tiny patient, Primrose recovered brilliantly. At her post-operative checks, she was already toe-touching well, comfortable, and healing beautifully 🧡

Meet Thembi, a lovely 6-year-old Cocker Spaniel who recently gave her family quite a scare after swallowing part of a mango pit 🥭

When Thembi began experiencing repeated vomiting and abdominal discomfort, she was brought in to see our vet Emma. Following a thorough assessment, there was concern that the mango pit could be causing a partial blockage in her digestive tract. Advanced imaging confirmed the presence of the foreign material, and Emma proceeded with a gastroscopy to investigate further.

The procedure revealed a large piece of mango pit lodged within Thembi's stomach, which was successfully removed. Following the procedure, Thembi recovered brilliantly at home. With medication, supportive care, and a gradual return to her normal routine, she was soon back to her happy, energetic self - just as a typical spaniel should be 🧡

Meet Flare 🤎
Flare is a lovely 1-year-old Border Collie who came to The Woodbridge Vets after developing ongoing lameness in her right forelimb. Despite rest and medication, her discomfort wasn’t improving, so she was admitted for advanced imaging.

Her CT scans revealed bilateral shoulder OCD (a developmental condition affecting the cartilage in both shoulders), along with a small fragment near the biceps tendon sheath. After careful discussion of options, Flare’s family and our veterinary team agreed that surgical treatment would give her the best chance of recovery 🤎

Flare underwent bilateral shoulder surgery with our vet Simon and assistance from our vet Laurie. During surgery, damaged cartilage was carefully removed, affected areas were cleaned and prepared, and the joints were treated to support healing and long-term comfort. Her recovery involved dedicated pain relief, strict rest, and close monitoring, with plenty of nursing care to keep her comfortable every step of the way. Like many orthopaedic cases, her rehabilitation was just as important as the surgery itself.

She has come so far from her initial lameness, and her progress is a real credit to both her and her family for their dedication throughout recovery 🤎 Well done Flare!

Meet Bee 💛 a lovely young Labrador who came to The Woodbridge Vets for her laparoscopic spay procedure. Bee underwent a laparoscopic ovariectomy under general anaesthetic, a modern keyhole surgery technique. This involves small incisions through which a camera (laparoscope) and specialised instruments are inserted, allowing the surgeon to view the internal organs on a screen and carry out precise surgery without large incisions.

Keyhole spaying is often chosen as it can offer several benefits, including less post-operative pain, reduced scarring, and a quicker recovery compared to traditional open surgery. As you can see, she made herself very comfortable in her fashionable medical shirt 💛

Bee’s procedure was carried out safely, with careful monitoring throughout, and both ovaries were successfully removed. She recovered well, was kept comfortable with pain relief and nursing care, and was sent home bright and comfortable with aftercare advice. A great example of how minimally invasive surgery can support a smoother recovery 💛 Well done Bee!

Meet Simon 🐰 a sweet little rabbit who came to The Woodbridge Vets for his neutering procedure. Simon was admitted for a routine castration under general anaesthetic. The procedure was carried out through a small scrotal approach and carefully closed with sutures and skin glue to support a smooth recovery. Neutering in rabbits is an important procedure that helps prevent unwanted behaviours and supports long-term health and wellbeing.

Throughout his stay, Simon was carefully monitored and received pain relief and supportive care to keep him safe and comfortable. A key part of his care was RVN Bryony, who provided wonderful and caring nursing support during both his procedure and recovery, ensuring he remained comfortable and well monitored as he woke up.

Simon recovered well, was bright and comfortable post-operatively, and was discharged home with aftercare advice 🐰

Meet Mully.
Mully is a sweet Cockapoo who came to The Woodbridge Vets under the care of our our vet Emma after struggling with ongoing vomiting and digestive sensitivity.

After a thorough work-up, including blood tests, imaging, and endoscopy. Mully was diagnosed with chronic gastrointestinal disease, likely related to food intolerance and underlying inflammatory changes. He required careful stabilisation in hospital, supportive care, anti-sickness medication, and ongoing monitoring to help get his symptoms under control.

Once he was feeling brighter, Mully started a strict hypoallergenic diet trial along with tailored medications to support his stomach and intestines. Over time, he began to improve with fewer flare-ups, better comfort, and a much happier day-to-day routine. Today, Mully is doing so much better and continues to be monitored closely to keep him stable and comfortable at home ❤

A huge well done to this little fighter - his recovery is going well… even if his bed is still proudly unmade and a little on the messy side! ❤

Meet Snoopy.
A brave little Chihuahua who came to The Woodbridge Vets for a dental procedure. Snoopy, weighing just 3.2kg, was admitted for a full dental assessment after concerns about his teeth. Dental radiographs showed diseased and damaged teeth, and several required extraction to help keep him comfortable and prevent infection 🦷

Snoopy was carefully monitored by our RVN Hannah, received a pain relief, and had advanced dental treatment carried out to ensure the best outcome. He recovered well afterwards, was sent home on a soft diet, and provided with pain relief and aftercare instructions. His care was led by Joanna, who many clients will recognise, and who is also the founder and veterinary surgeon of the upcoming new practice, The Colchester Vets opening in August. Meet Sprout ❤
A super brave 3-year-old JRT who has been through an incredibly tough journey. Sprout was sadly attacked by other dogs while out on a walk, resulting in multiple serious injuries, including significant internal trauma. He was rushed into our care here at The Woodbridge Vets, where he underwent urgent diagnostics, including CT imaging and ultrasound, which revealed a complex and life-threatening inguinal hernia along with other internal injuries.

Our team performed emergency surgery to repair the extensive abdominal wall damage alongside this, Sprout required intensive hospitalisation, constant pain management, advanced imaging, blood monitoring, and round-the-clock nursing care. Our head nurse Elodie and RVN Lauren were heavily involved in his overnight care and monitoring, supporting him through the most critical stages of recovery. All appropriate stabilisation measures were performed and every stone was left unturned, and our veterinary team did absolutely everything possible to stabilise this little fella and get him back on his feet again ❤

Over the following days, Sprout showed remarkable resilience. Although his recovery was challenging, with periods of pain and regurgitation, he did begin to make gradual progress. However, it became clear he would benefit from a higher level of specialist input for his ongoing care. Once stabilised, Sprout was referred to our colleagues in the Emergency and Critical Care Department at Dick White Referrals to continue his treatment and recovery. With ongoing support, he slowly began to improve, becoming brighter and starting to eat again.

Sprout’s journey highlights the incredible teamwork involved in advanced veterinary care and the importance of referral collaboration in giving patients the best possible chance. We are pleased to say that Sprout is now absolutely thriving and living his best life ❤

Meet Tink, a lovely, very brave little Dachshund who came to see us for dental treatment. Tink was admitted for a dental procedure so her teeth could be safely examined and treated. Dental care is important in pets because plaque and tartar build-up can cause pain, infection, and damage to teeth and gums if left untreated 🦷

During her procedure, she had a full scale and polish, and one tooth was found to be badly damaged, with a fracture and exposed pulp and roots. This type of damage is painful and carries a high risk of infection, so the tooth was carefully extracted 🦷

Tink received strong pain relief and supportive care throughout and recovered well after her procedure. She was a very brave girl and is now on the way to a much healthier, pain-free mouth 🐾
