Our work at HRH can be incredibly rewarding, but sometimes, devastatingly sad.
Our beautiful blue boy Ben (Newinn Ben) left us for the Rainbow Bridge yesterday, leaving us all heartbroken.
Ben had gone out on our foster to adopt scheme with Jayne and her wonderful family. At the 2 week mark, Ben had gone off his food and was drinking excessively. As with all our fosters, we remain in constant contact and cover any necessary vet costs.
Seeing the vet yesterday, after having lost a lot of weight, bloods were taken and a full examination managed to rule out a lot of possible reasons for such drastic weight loss.
Despite a 24 hour fast track on the lab for his results, Ben's immune system had been shutting down and he was just too weak to fight the illness.
Ben was adored from his entrance into the world as a pup, to his sudden exit.
The most laid back, gentle soul - who loved cuddles and play - Ben would 'paddle' his front paws with excitement as you approached his paddock, eager to embrace the day's adventures.
Ben would have celebrated his 2nd birthday on 24th September. He had settled in so well at his potential home, where he had spent the last 3 weeks. He passed knowing he was loved and in the comfort of his new family.
We will all miss this handsome little lad so much. Fly high Ben💔
