Saz is one of about 1,500 Belgian Laekenois left in the world.

Once tasked with guarding fields of linen in Belgium, this rare breed has survived a wartime bounty and over a century of near-extinction. Saz is helping carry it forward.

She's earned titles across disciplines, including three Trick Dog titles and finishing her Championship at just 9 months. She splits her time between rally, dock diving, and acting in film and TV. Good Dog breeder Katie focuses on excellence at both ends, pairing conformation, purpose, and tradition with brains, sport, temperament, and health, and Saz is proof of what that looks like.

"My go-everywhere, do-everything dog, my best friend, my whole world," Katie says of her trusty companion.

A great achievement from Buzz. His owner and breeder deserved a good slap, though.

A great achievement from Buzz. His owner and breeder deserved a good slap, though.

From abandoned stray to award-winning police dog. šŸ¾šŸ’™

PD Buzz was found wandering the streets of Bradford in August 2021.
He was microchipped, but when his owner didn’t want him back, his future looked uncertain.

That all changed when Buzz was taken in by Cliffe Kennels & Rescue in Barnsley — a rescue that gave him time, structure, and a chance to show what he was capable of.

Someone spotted his potential.

Within his first 12 months as a police dog, Buzz assisted with:
• 26 arrests
• 71 pursuits
• 38 searches for missing people

He’s since been named South Yorkshire Police’s Animal of the Year — no small achievement.

Stories like Buzz’s matter because they remind people that rescue dogs aren’t ā€œsecond bestā€.
Some go on to be family pets.
Some go on to save lives.
Some, like Buzz, go on to wear a harness and serve the public.

Rescues do this work every day — assessing, stabilising, and sometimes passing on exceptional dogs to the police when it’s right for the dog.

We’re proud to be part of that wider rescue community.
Because the job doesn’t start with blue lights — and it doesn’t end when the harness comes off either.

This was sent from Keava Pink's Mum. It shows how training never ends, especially when you have a Malinois. It takes place everywhere. Over the Christmas period have lots of fun with your dogs, but take advantage of those training opportunities in different places. 55 minutes of fun, 5 minutes of training fun. (If it ain't fun...you're doing it wrong.)
