๐ŸŒŸ Senior Feline Wellness Clinics at the Wolverhampton Hospital โ€“ Because Older Cats Deserve Extra Care ๐ŸŒŸ

As our cats enter their golden years, their needs begin to change โ€” often in subtle ways that can be easy to miss at home. Senior Feline Wellness Clinics are designed to give older cats the focused, gentle, and proactive care they need to stay happy, comfortable, and healthy for as long as possible.

๐Ÿพ Why senior checkโ€‘ups matter:
* Older cats are more prone to kidney disease, thyroid problems, high blood pressure, arthritis, and dental issues
* Many of these conditions develop gradually, with very few early signs
* Regular senior health checks help us spot changes early, when treatment is most effective
* Early intervention can protect vital organs, reduce pain, and improve quality of life

๐Ÿ’œ These clinics provide a calm, catโ€‘friendly environment where your feline friend can receive thorough, tailored care โ€” from blood pressure checks and mobility assessments to bloodwork and behaviour discussions.

If your cat is 7 years or older, now is the perfect time to book their senior wellness appointment. Supporting their health today means more comfortable, joyful years ahead.

๐Ÿ“ž Call our Wolverhampton Hospital on 01902 424725 to book your senior catโ€™s wellness check โ€” they deserve it.

๐Ÿพ Meet Millie-Rose ๐Ÿพ

Just look at this gorgeous girl ๐Ÿฅฐ

Almost 14-year-old Millie-Rose, an adorable little crossbreed, visited our Wolverhampton Hospital last week to undergo surgery to remove a couple of masses.

This lovely girl is pictured here after surgery, enjoying some well-deserved rest while wrapped up snugly in a cosy blanket. ๐Ÿ’š

RVN Molly, who captured these adorable photos, explains why keeping patients warm during and after surgery is so important. Anaesthesia can affect an animalโ€™s ability to regulate its own body temperature, so providing extra warmth helps keep them comfortable and supports their recovery. ๐Ÿฉบ๐Ÿพ

We think youโ€™ll agree that Millie-Rose looks absolutely adorable all snuggled up! Sending lots of love to this sweet girl as she recovers. ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿพ Puppies ๐Ÿพ

We recently had the absolute pleasure of welcoming seven gorgeous 8 week old Miniature Dachshund puppies to our Shifnal branch for their microchips! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฅฐ Just look at these little cuties! We think itโ€™s safe to say they stole our hearts. โค๏ธ

๐Ÿ“ธ Here they are pictured with RVN Stacey and Practice Manager Julieann

๐Ÿท๏ธ Did you know microchipping your puppy is a legal requirement?

In England, all puppies must be microchipped and registered by the time they are 8 weeks old. By law, the breeder must ensure each puppy is microchipped before they go to their new home, with the breeder recorded as the first registered keeper. ๐Ÿพ

Microchipping is an important step in responsible pet ownership, helping to ensure your dog can be identified and reunited with you should they ever go missing. ๐Ÿ’•

A huge thank you to these little visitors for brightening our day! We hope you all enjoy your exciting adventures ahead. ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿ’—

๐Ÿ“ž Got a new litter of puppies or need advice about microchipping? Get in touch with our team โ€” weโ€™re always happy to help!

๐Ÿ’š World Mental Health Day ๐Ÿ’š

Today, we want to talk about something that matters just as much as the care we give your pets: the wellbeing of the people who care for them. ๐Ÿซถ

Working in veterinary medicine is incredibly rewarding. Caring for your beloved pets and supporting you as their owners is a privilege. But, alongside the happy moments, there are difficult decisions, long days and the heartbreak of saying goodbye to much-loved pets. These experiences can take an emotional toll, even after weโ€™ve finished work.

๐Ÿ’š Sadly, the veterinary profession has one of the highest su***de rates among professional groups. This highlights the serious mental health challenges faced by those working in our profession.

Organisations such as NOMV (Not One More Vet) work to raise awareness, break down the stigma surrounding mental health and provide vital support to veterinary professionals who may be struggling.

As a practice, supporting our teamโ€™s mental health is incredibly important to us. We have team members trained as Mental Health First Aiders across all our branches, helping to ensure support is available throughout our practice. Sometimes, having someone to talk to and a listening ear can make a real difference.

We also know that small gestures matter. A simple โ€œAre you okay?โ€, a little extra kindness or taking the time to listen can mean more than we realise.

When you bring your pet to us, youโ€™re trusting us with a much-loved member of your family, and we never take that trust for granted. We care deeply about every animal we treat and every family we support. But behind every consultation, every operation and every act of care is a person, with feelings and struggles of their own. Their wellbeing matters, too. ๐Ÿ’š

This World Mental Health Day, we want to remind everyone in the veterinary profession:

๐Ÿ’š Itโ€™s okay to have a difficult day.
๐Ÿ’š Itโ€™s okay to ask for help.
๐Ÿ’š Itโ€™s okay to talk about how youโ€™re feeling.
๐Ÿ’š You donโ€™t have to face things alone.

To our wonderful team and colleagues across the veterinary profession, thank you for the compassion, dedication, and kindness you show every day.

And to our lovely clients, thank you for your patience, understanding, and kindness towards our team. A kind word or a little understanding on a difficult day can make more of a difference than you know. ๐Ÿซถ

We spend our days caring for your pets, but itโ€™s just as important to care for ourselves and each other.

Because caring for animals starts with caring for the people who look after them. ๐Ÿ’š

Not One More Vet.

๐Ÿพ FOUND CAT ๐Ÿพ

Recently, our Wolverhampton hospital had a tabby and white female cat brought in as a stray.

We believe she is elderly and she has mid-length fur. Unfortunately, she has no microchip or collar, so weโ€™re hoping to find her owner.

If you believe this girl could be yours, please call us on 01902 424 725.

Please share to help us reunite her with her family. โค๏ธ

๐Ÿพ Meet Ginny ๐Ÿพ

Two weeks ago, beautiful Labrador Ginny came to our Wolverhampton Hospital for a very special visit โ€“ a laparoscopic spay, also known as a keyhole spay. ๐Ÿ’—

And there was an extra special connectionโ€ฆ Ginny is owned by Carrie, one of our equine vets ๐Ÿฅฐ

Ginny was in the very capable hands of Vet Elliott, who works at our hospital on Mondays and Thursdays and performs laparoscopic spays as part of his surgical caseload.

๐Ÿ”Ž But what exactly is a laparoscopic spay?

Unlike a traditional spay, which involves a larger incision, laparoscopic spaying is a minimally invasive, keyhole procedure.

Small incisions are made in the abdomen, allowing a camera and specialised instruments to be carefully inserted. This enables the ovaries to be identified and removed without the need for a larger surgical incision.

โœจ The potential benefits include:
๐Ÿพ Smaller incisions
๐Ÿพ Less tissue handling
๐Ÿพ Reduced post-operative discomfort
๐Ÿพ A quicker recovery for many dogs

And Ginny? She was an absolute superstar from start to finish! ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿถ

She recovered beautifully after her procedure, with SVN Daniella keeping a close eye on her as she woke up and recovered post-operatively. ๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿ’•

Best of all, Ginny was able to head home later that same day, where she could enjoy plenty of love and cuddles from Carrie while continuing her recovery. ๐Ÿฅฐ

We think youโ€™ll agree she was a very good girl! ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿพ

And, of course, no adventure would be complete without their trusty scooters! ๐Ÿ›ด๐Ÿ›ด๐Ÿ’จ

What an adventure they have ahead of them! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ’ช

Tomorrowโ€™s the big day! ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง

Director Julie and Deputy Clinical Director Zadie are setting off on their incredible race across the UK, and theyโ€™ve already got one very special supporter ready to cheer them on! โค๏ธ

Meet Emerson โ€” their biggest, furriest and possibly cutest supporter! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฅฐ

His lovely mum had this special T-shirt made especially for him, so he can proudly show his support all the way. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ‘•๐Ÿพ

He may not be running the race himself, but heโ€™s certainly doing his bitโ€ฆ wearing his support on his sleeve โ€” well, technically on his back! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Good luck, Julie and Zadie! Weโ€™ll be following your amazing journey and cheering you on every step of the way. Youโ€™ve got this! ๐Ÿ’ชโค๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง
