Well we”ve been back from Kenya for 3 weeks now and the blisters are all but healed! I just wanted to say thank you for all the support and good wishes during my run, I’m sure they all helped😃.

It was a great experience, but a definite challenge at altitude with 9kg pack in 34 deg C direct sun and although initially I thought I wouldn’t do it again, I’m already starting to think about running in 2024. I learnt a lot and it would be great to do it again with this knowledge. Watch this space!

Thanks to everyone who sponsored me, with your help I managed to raise 685 plus gift aid for Wild Rhinos and For Rangers. Nick and I both saw in person what good causes these are and the donations definitely make a difference. In Ol Pejeta Reserve alone (where the For Rangers Ultra finished, and famous for black and white rhinos) there have been no poaching incidents for last 6 years.

In case anyone would still like to make a donation my just giving page will be live until the end of the month.

Beyond the ultra, we had a fantastic time in Kenya - it’s an amazing country and we can’t wait to visit again!

Thanks everyone who has donated to my justgiving page. I thought you might be interested in an update on training progress!

So the training schedule has been increasing steadily in intensity thanks to my trainer Vicky. Each week I’ve been increasing the time running/fast walking with backpack as well of course as the distance covered.

Yesterday was my longest session yet, 5 hours / 46 km. Training continues this week until we leave for Kenya on Friday, acclimatise for the race and then get to race camp on the 13th ready for the start on the 14th!

A lot of time and energy also preparing food and equipment which I have to carry during the race - so trying to keep it as light as possible.

So, thanks again for all the donations and it’s not too late to donate if you would like to do so - it’s a great cause and all donations go to the charity and really do make a difference 🙂.

SAFE PROCEDURES DURING COVID-19 OUTBREAK

To protect both of our families whilst I'm grooming your pet I have put in place the following safety measures.

VERY IMPORTANT
Only bring your pet to your appointment if you are well. If you or any member of your household are showing any symptoms of Covid-19 or have done in the past 7 days, you and your pet must STAY AT HOME.

I'm happy to cancel or rearrange your appointment at no charge during this time.

Please ensure you read and adhere to the following steps.

ARRIVAL (handover protocol)
1. Please arrive on time for your appointment and ensure you bring your dog without harnesses, bandanas, jumpers etc.
2. Attach your dog with your own collar to the lead which is provided outside of the house.
3. Ring the doorbell and return to wait by your car, and I will come out to collect your dog.
4. I will be wearing PPE (gloves, face mask and apron)
5. Keeping a safe distance (at least 2 meters), we will have a brief discussion about the requirements of the groom, and confirm the collection time.
6. Before I take your pet inside I will spray them with Leucillin spray (anti bacterial, anti-viral spray for dogs).
7. I will use my lead and collar to take your pet into the salon.

GROOM
1. Your pet will then be bathed in the usual way with grooming shampoo and rinsed.
2. Your pet will be dried and groomed as normal. Please note if your pet has become matted during lockdown, I will have to clip the coat short. It will re-grow quickly. Brushing out matted fur is a painful and unnecessary process for your dog to suffer and is not part of the service I offer.

COLLECTION
1. Please arrive on time or early to collect your pet and wait in your car. I will bring your pet outside and attach it back to the lead. Once I have gone back into the salon you can reattach your lead and take your pet home.
2. Payment: for the time being I can only take payment by bank transfer which must be made prior to collection.
3. Follow on bookings will be arranged by text or phone and not at time of collection.
4. The salon and associated equipment will be cleaned before and after each groom, so it is very important that you drop off and collect on time.

I hope this answers any questions you may have on our new procedures, but please call or text if you have any questions or concerns.

Dear customers,

After listening to the goverment's recent announcements I am planning to re-open my business from the 1st of June.
It's been really difficult to decide when to restart as I want to ensure that I'm doing all I can to operate as safely as possible for the benefit of my customers and my family.

Tomorrow I'll publish new drop off, pick up, payment and other procedures on my page and will also tell you or send you a message with them prior to your appointment.

This Thursday and Friday I'll be calling to re-book prior appointments, which I'll do in the same order as the appointments were cancelled.

Please bear with me as I've got quite a few to book in but if you don't hear from me by next Monday, please do get in touch.

Dear customers,

Just a quick update on the current position at Wokingham dog grooming.

I'm still closed due to the current panademic situation, but I'm watching developments closely and waiting for an update to goverment advice for small businesses and for lockdown restrictions to ease.

I'm hoping this will be sometime later in May, and will update this page as appropriate.

In the meantime, I'm working on new procedures to work safely following industry best practices in the pet grooming industry - please check back from time to time for the latest updates.

Once I do re-open I will offer appointments acconding to the order I had to cancel previous bookings due to the lockdown.
