Emmview Veterinary Centre may experience a power outage for a short period this morning. We hope that any power outages will be resolved by 10am. If you have a medical emergency during this time, please call us as usual and you will be diverted to a member of the team who will assist you.

Cerys and Tracy from the Emmview Team completed the 4.5k Santa run to raise money for StreetVet in London last night. 🏃‍♀️

We wanted to say a huge thankyou to everyone who donated, together we raised an amazing £500. 🙂

Street Vet has been in contact with us and they are grateful for all your donations, they have made a huge difference. 🐶

IMPORTANT INFORMATION : PRACTICE CLOSURE THURSDAY DECEMBER 11th

Dear Emmview clients
We have been informed by our electricity supplier that due essential works, we will have no electricity supply on December 11th.

We will not be able to provide services at Emmview on this day. The team will be spending the day at Nine Mile Veterinary Hospital in Finchampstead and all calls will be diverted there, we can see urgent cases at Nine Mile on this day. We will not be open for collection of medication.

Many apologies for any inconvenience, and thank you as always for your support.

Help us help the environment! 🌳

Everyone has a role to both use and dispose of veterinary medicines responsibly to protect pet and human well being, and the health of the environment. 🌱

That’s why we are taking part in The Animal Medicines Amnesty to make sure unused medicines are disposed of safely.

Getting involved is easy. Check to see if you have any out-of-date or unused pet medications at home. If so, simply return them to your veterinary practice for safe disposal. 🗑️

Pet medicines should never be disposed of in household waste as this can contaminate the environment. They shouldn’t be kept for future use on pets either as this can result in dangerous side effects. 💊

If you are concerned about your pet whilst we are closed, please contact our normal number on 0118 979 6060 and you will be diverted to the Nine Mile Veterinary hospital who will able to assist you. 🐶

If you have requested medication please be aware that you will be unable to collect on this day.

Normal opening times will resume from Wednesday the 22nd October.

⚠🐍 Adder bite Awareness - Protecting Dogs & Wildlife 🐍⚠

‼ We have had a few cases of Adder bites come to us recently, so we just wanted to share some information and raise awareness! ‼

☀️ As the warmer months arrive, we are more likely to spot Britain’s only venomous snake - the adder. While bites in dogs are thankfully rare, cases tend to peak between June and August ☀️

🐍 Adders are a protected species and these beautiful creatures are an important part of our ecosystem. They are not aggressive and only bite in self defence - including when stepped on or surprised by a curious dog! 🐍

By staying alert and respecting their space, we can help protect both our dogs and
our native wildlife. Adders are most commonly found in drier, open habitats like:

🌳 Woodland edges
🌱 Grassy heaths and moorland
🏖 Sandy coastal areas and rocky paths

🐾 Keeping dogs under close control or on a lead, and sticking to clear paths, can help to avoid encounters 🐾

Now that summer is in full swing, please be aware of the signs of heatstroke in order to keep your dog safe this summer.☀️

Use the thermometer below as a guide to identify when your dog is most at risk.🌡️⬇️

🐶Dogs are more at risk if they are:
-Large
-Energetic
-Older
-Flat faced

To help reduce the risk of heatstroke you can:
-Bring water for your dog on each walk💦
-Walk in cooler temperatures☁️
-Know the signs of heatstroke✏️

❗️If you suspect your dog has heatstroke please seek immediate veterinary help.❗️
