DOG OF THE WEEK 🐶

Meet Mia. Mia is about 2 years old and is a terrier cross.

Mia has been in our care for a few weeks, rearing her litter of beautiful babies.

Unbelievably this poor little dog gave birth to her family whilst a stray and starved herself for the benefit of her puppies.

Puppies are all weaned now and Mia has improved massively in her condition. She will soon be ready to find a loving new home.

Despite her horrendous experiences, she is just the sweetest and most affectionate little dog you could ever imagine.
We all love her to bits so it will need to be a special someone for her.

If you would like to apply for Mia. Please apply through our website.
We can’t unfortunately answer homing questions on our page.

*** APPLICATIONS PAUSED DUE TO HIGH VOLUME OF OFFERS OF HOMES ***

** PUPPIES OF THE WEEK **

Oh dear, we’re going to be very busy with applications now these 6 little angels are ready to find their forever homes 😜🫣

Meet our ABBA litter 🥰 🐶

These sweet puppies were brought to DBARC @ 4 weeks old with their mother Mia.

They have been lovingly cared for by their wonderful mother and DBARC staff. Everybody has fallen head over heals in love with them all and are looking for the best homes possible for these special puppies.

We’ve had a DNA test done on one of the pups as didn’t know who Daddy was - the results have come back as mainly Shih-Tzu and Parsons Jack Russell Terrier. Mummy Mia is obviously a terrier x and is a delightful girl so if her pups take after her, adopters are going to be very lucky indeed.

They will be ready to leave DBARC @ 12th June - so please do not apply unless you will be ready to take them home that weekend.

Puppies are a LOT of hard work - housetraining, training, socialising ..... their futures are in your hands so it is important to be honest with yourself to ensure you have the time and knowledge to put the work into these little souls. Taking on a puppy is so exciting, but it’s also a huge responsibility – for both you and your family. After all, the puppy will quickly grow into an adult dog and may be with you for 15 years or more. Before taking on a puppy, it's sensible to think about the long-term commitment you are making.

A puppy will become a new family member, and they will be completely dependent on you to meet all of their essential needs in order for them to be happy, fit and healthy. This will include good nutrition, veterinary care, socialisation, training and regular exercise. If raised in the right way, a new puppy will make a wonderful companion, but you have to put the time and effort in.

If you really think you have what it takes to be a good parent to one of our special babies, fill in an application form and we will be in touch.

A lovely update on Wendy who was adopted by one of our lovely volunteers 😊

After losing our beloved Daisy, whom we brought home from DBARC at just 10 weeks old and loved for 14 and a half wonderful years, I felt a huge void. To help fill that space (and get my doggie fix), I decided to volunteer at DBARC. I started in October 2023 and quickly fell in love with the work and pretty much all of the dogs that have passed through, whilst waiting for their forever homes.

In March 2024, I adopted the gorgeous Wendy, who was just six months old at the time.

I don’t think Wendy had ever lived in a home before. She was frightened of everything—most noises, stairs, even her own reflection in the mirror. The outside world was a very scary place for her.

But with time, patience, and lots of love, she began to blossom. Within just three months, Wendy had completely settled into home life. Now she loves her walks, feels safe in her surroundings, and enjoys an abundance of love every day.
Here are a few photos from the past two years. I’m still volunteering at DBARC and continue to enjoy every minute of it.

Many thanks 😊

A lovely update on Marley. Looking very happy in his new home 😊

Marley has settled in really well. A few anxious days to start with but he's coping just fine.
He's formed a strong bond with our son Charlie and has made himself right at home.

DOG OF THE WEEK 🐶

Meet Tina a x breed neutered female. Who is nearly 2 years old.

Beautiful Tina was found straying along with another similar dog, but they were never reclaimed and it is most likely that they were simply abandoned. Tina is a sensitive dog who may be slightly shy at first, but has a loving nature and just needs to get to know you, and then is very sweet. It is likely that she may have had some less than kind treatment in her past life, but consistent and loving handling will soon build her confidence.

Tina is not used to living with cats or small pets, and given her sighthound genes, would be quite likely to chase them She is good with other dogs. Tina has no long term history so we would not wish to place her with children under 10 years.

Having been unwanted at such an early age does mean that Tina is likely to have missed out on early training, so her adopters will need to be ready to help her catch up, and training classes will be an essential part of that process as well as normal training in the home, socialising with other kind dogs and habituation to the wider world. She is a normal, healthy and active youngster who will need plenty of exercise and company most of the time.

We can’t unfortunately answer homing questions on our social media. If you would like to adopt Tina. Please apply through our website.

A lovely update on Teddy. Very happy in his home 😊

Many thanks for giving us the opportunity to adopt Teddy, he is our second dog from you and both have been brilliant.

We adopted Teddy end of Feb 2025.

Teddy came wth little doggy etiquette but he is a bright boy and learnt fast with little training.

He is good with everyone even the young grandchildren & other dogs.

Water is his favourite especially a muddy puddle but he would swim all day.

He has given us so much joy & we couldn’t imagine life without him.

We hope some of the attached pictures will let you see how well Teddy is enjoying life, as are we!

Teddy is no stranger to dbarc as we always bring bring him to your shop as a first port of call for everything we need.

Many thanks again

A lovely update on Lily. Happy Gotcha day Lily 😊

Yesterday, Lily’s celebrated her very first ‘Gotcha day’ by catching a very lively mouse that the cats brought in to play with!

It’s been joy to see her understanding, confidence and playfulness blossom over this last year.

She is bright and eager to learn new things, especially with ‘Go find it’ retrieval games in the woods and fields. It makes her work a bit more intelligently than ball chasing ( which she loves) up in the park.

She’s started to look a bit fluffy around her legs …. so will need to overcome her anxiety with grooming next.

What a wonderful companion she has turned out to be.

Everyone loves her.

Thank you so much DBARC for letting me have her!
