🐾 A little warning about grass seeds! 🌾
Poor little man has had a trip to the vets today after a grass seed decided to make its way into his paw.
What surprised me was that I couldn’t actually see anything. He wasn’t showing any obvious signs of pain either, although he had been licking his paw. There was nothing sticking out and, to look at it, you wouldn’t have known there was anything wrong.
Today, however, his paw became swollen, so I decided it was time to get it checked.
Thankfully, the vet found an exit mark in his paw, which suggests the grass seed had been travelling through and was actually starting to make its way out. 😳
The good news is there is no infection, and because we caught it early, he only needs some pain relief and monitoring. ❤️
It really is a reminder of how sneaky grass seeds can be. They can get into paws, ears and other areas and work their way under the skin without being obvious.
I think they've been particularly bad this year with the prolonged hot, dry weather, so it's definitely worth checking your dogs carefully after walks, especially around their paws and between their toes.
Thankfully, our little man's swelling gave me the clue that something wasn't quite right. 🐶❤️
One tiny grass seed can cause a surprisingly big problem. 🌾🐾
