At the festival I had a moment where I realised just how much progress can happen when we start helping them navigate the world, with no expectation of them to be perfect

My own dogs came along for the day, and they each reminded me why I love this work -
Marms, who came to me unsure and overwhelmed by so much of the world was able to walk into a busy environment and engage in enrichment around people and dogs
Eden, who when she first came to me was completely shut down and I genuinely didn’t know if off lead freedom would ever be possible for her! She was off lead at a busy event, exploring, making choices, and even interacting with other people and dogs. Was she 100% comfortable with every interaction? No.. But she felt safe enough to stay, to communicate and to enjoy parts of the experience. Nothing makes me happier than seeing how safe she feels now
Ritz, who can have big feelings around dogs showed me that progress doesn’t mean he never struggles. It means he has the skills to manage tricky situations and we've built the resilience that means he can experience stress and recover so he can still be part of life
He still needed guidance… and that’s okay!

And my friend Sharon and her dog River came along too. River can be a nervous dog bud Sharon has worked so hard on their confidence (both ends of the lead!). A year ago, this kind of environment would have felt impossible, but they both showed up!

And that is what this is all about - not creating perfect dogs, but creating confident teams
Helping dogs and their people build skills, grow in confidence,l and enjoy life together

That’s the heart behind Dog Clubā¤ļø

Yesterday was a little reminder of why I love what I do 🄰

Dog training isn’t just about practising commands in your kitchen or the village hall, it’s about helping dogs be successful in the real world

Being able to visit new places, experience new things, make good choices and enjoy life alongside their people! I dunno about you but I didn't actively choose to bring a dog home to leave them in the utility room while I live my life!

At the March Summer Festival we created a little space for dogs to take a break, explore enrichment, enjoy a pup cup and just be dogs

Watching dogs go from curious to confident and relaxed in a new environment is exactly why I believe in building skills slowly, but quickly generalising them into new environments

We're all about building a life you can enjoy together over here ā¤ļø

Sometimes the first step is having someone beside you, focusing completely on you and your dog - that’s where so many people start - with 121 sessions tailored to you and your dog

Whether you need:
✨ help understanding your dog better
✨ support building mechanical skills like how to hold your lead or move your hand
✨ hand holding while we build your confidence together
✨ a plan that actually works for your life

121s are the one!

Then comes the next step…

Taking those skills into the real world - and that’s where Dog Club comes in

A place to practise around distractions, build consistency, and be part of a wider community of people who are on the same journey

A place thats not new, but is improved, with my new three levels - our build sessions are the perfect step up from 121s!

We build the foundations together… then we rise and grow together ā™„ļøšŸ¾

What would you do if your dog's behaviour wasn't holding you back?

More walks?
More adventures?
More freedom?
More confidence?

That's what good training creates - not perfection, but possibilities

Your dogs world is only as big as you make it!🐾

Not every dog is ready for the same level of training - so 18 months in, I’ve changed Dog Club

Sessions are now broken down into 3 phases so you can easily see where your dog fits.and what comes next:
šŸ”¹ BUILD: foundations, confidence & extra support
šŸ”¹ RISE: core skills, but with real world distractions
šŸ”¹ GROW: advanced life skills, biological fulfilment, freedom & adventures

Still everyone welcome, but no *one size fits all* anymore!

If you’re unsure where your dog fits, pop me a message and we can get you started on ypur training journey With Kelly ✨

Imagine if by the end of summer, your dog could:
āœ” Walk past another dog without losing their mind
āœ” Focus on you in distracting environments
āœ” Feel calmer and more confident out and about

At Dog Club, we were all about making walks (and life in general) with our dogs enjoyable again!

Pop me a message to get involved 🐾

Been a little quieter on here the last few days. It’s been one of those weeks that’s got very full, very quickšŸ˜…

Tricky weather, lots of admin, friends dogs staying and still some training/walks when weather allowed but also not much sleep and one poorly dog keeping us on our toes, but currently stable at Dick Whites and hopefully coming home Friday/Saturday

I think moments like this are a good reminder that behind all the shiny dog posts, most of us are just trying to juggle..So go easy on yourself for being an imperfect human!

Back to normal life soon - she says every week, inbetween one chaotic event and the next šŸ™ˆšŸ¾

The dogs that shaped me most weren’t the easy ones

Most of my dogs were ex mums who'd never got to experience much of the real world. They came predisposed to pessimism, having never experienced agency and with more baggage than Heathrow!

Those dogs taught me patience.
They taught me empathy.
And they taught me that behaviour is usually a lot deeper than 'stubborn' or 'naughty'

Honestly, I think they’re the reason my training now focuses so heavily on understanding the individual dog in front of you. When you've lived with dogs that find the human world difficult to navigate, you stop focusing on stopping annoying behaviour and lean into understanding why it's happening to start with

So over here we don't do quick fixes...on purpose!

We do appropriate fulfilment, outlets for 'bad' behaviour and structure at home - we tweak their whole lives so that they are more successful in them before we even start training

What has living with your dog (the one you automatically thought of as you read thisšŸ˜…) taught you?

Spent the weekend away training and honestly, one of the biggest things it reminded me of is how valuable community is when it comes to dogs

Not just training, but being around people who understand the ups and downs, celebrate the tiny wins with you, support you when things feel hard...and are just as obsessed with dogs as you are šŸ˜…

I think that’s a huge part of why I care so much about Dog Club - yes, it’s about training, but its SOO much more than that.

It's always been about creating a space where people can learn, ask questions, build confidence and enjoy working their dogs without judgement or pressure

Some of the community train with me, but many don't and there is no pressure to do things my way. You're welcome however you train, whatever breed you have and regardless of your end goals. It's a safe space for everyone ā™„ļø

This weekend we have a neutrality walk in Sandringham on Saturday and coffee club in King's Lynn Sunday. Pop me a message to join us!
