Autumn walks are great fun… until your dog brings half the field home in their coat! 🍂🐾
Rain, mud and wet grass can be a bit of a nightmare for fluffy and woolly coats. When the coat gets wet, it can tangle much more easily, especially if mud and dirt are left sitting in it.
Those little tangles can then turn into tight mats surprisingly quickly, areas like the legs, tummy, armpits, ears and anywhere a harness sits are usually the first places to check 👀
The best thing you can do after a wet walk is make sure your dog is properly dried and give their coat a good brush through once it is dry, a comb is really useful too because it helps you check that you have reached all the way through the coat, not just brushed the top.
Regular grooming can make autumn much easier as well. Keeping the coat at a sensible length and staying on top of appointments means less mud getting trapped and fewer knots building up between visits. ✂️
AND if you love a longer, fluffy style, it can absolutely be kept through autumn, it just usually needs a little more work at home and a good grooming routine to keep your dog comfortable.
So enjoy the muddy walks, the puddles and all the autumn adventures. Just remember that what comes home in that coat needs a little attention too 😂🍁
Have you had any muddy walks yet? 👀
