The Keeshond is the extrovert of the Spitz world.

They are stunning dogs to photograph -with their plush silver and black coat, fox-like face and signature "spectacle" markings around their eyes.

Fun facts:
- they are named the "smiling Dutchman" thanks to their happy expression.
- they were once known as the "Dutch barge dog" as they lived on boats in the Netherlands, keeping watch and charming everyone onboard.
- despite all the fluff, they are amazingly agile and love to learn tricks.
- they are famous for being velcro dogs - if you move, they move. They have never heard of personal space.

Keeshonden (the plural) thrive on companionship. They are happiest when they are part of whatever is going on.

If you are looking for a loyal shadow with fabulous hair and emotional intelligence - the Keeshond might just steal your heart.

Kiwi here certainly stole ours!

Ever wonder how they put the "dapple" in a dapple dachshund?
It’s all in the magic of genetics.
A dapple dachshund gets its signature spotted, marbled coat from something called the merle gene. This gene randomly lightens parts of the base coat colour, creating that beautiful patchwork effect—whether it’s black and tan, chocolate, red, or silver.
But here’s the important part:
Responsible breeding matters. When two dapple dachshunds are bred together, it can produce “double dapple” puppies, which have a much higher risk of vision and hearing issues. Ethical breeders carefully pair dogs to prioritize health first, pattern second.
So that gorgeous dapple look?
It’s not paint. It’s not a filter.
It’s science, genetics, and a lot of careful breeding.
Nature really knew what it was doing with this one.
Meet Dora – a beautiful example of the dapple coat – and the most energetic dachshund we have ever met!

We always consider it a compliment if a dog has a snooze in our studio. It means that they feel relaxed and calm. Max deserved a little rest after rocking the cowboy look during his photo shoot!

We love a secret photo shoot!
Teddy here managed to keep the secret from his owner.
He was "dognapped" by his owner's daughter who brought him for a photo shoot and presented Mum with a photo of him on Christmas Day.
