It is hard to believe that a whole year has passed since this beautiful boy closed his eyes for the last time. Today marks one year without Dexter, and while the high street feels a little quieter, the love and memories he left behind in Windsor are just as bright as ever.

To mark today, sharing some classic Dexter moments; sleeping soundly in various favourite spots over the years, exactly as he loved to do - can you recognise any?!

It is also the perfect opportunity to share some very special news...

The Windsor Museum Exhibit 🏛️

Starting very soon (end of July / early August), visitors will be able to see a dedicated Dexter exhibit at the Windsor & Royal Borough Museum. Dexter's urn will be on loan to the museum as part of this special display, bringing him right back into the heart of the town he loved.

A Call to Local Artists & Photographers 🎨📸

The goal is to keep this exhibit growing and updated. Any local artists or photographers who would love to have pieces considered for the Dexter collection are invited to get in touch at [email protected]

Coming Soon: The Dexter Trail... 🗺️

As you all know, there is one more major project in the works to keep his legacy walking through the streets of Windsor alive. Keep your eyes peeled, as the next few posts will have additional details about the upcoming Dexter Trail!

Hello all donors to this cause - again, thank you very much for your generous and kind donations last year for Dexter's memorial.

First of all, apologies for being so silent on these updates. Managing this project alongside moving house and working full-time got a little too much for me, and I put things on hold for a bit longer than I should have. Thank you so much for your patience, and I'm happy to report that I have in fact not run off with the money!

I am actually really excited to provide you with a short update on our progress today, with much more frequent updates to be expected going forward. Promise.

I'm thrilled to share that we:

- Have the first draft of the Dexter Trail route mapped out. 📍

- Have selected an absolutely fantastic sculptor to bring Dexter to life in bronze. 🤎

- Are currently working with the council to organise the official transfer of funds for the project. 💰

- Are collaborating with the Windsor Museum at The Guildhall to create a dedicated Dexter exhibition, honouring a year since his passing. 🖼

I will be providing more details on each of these milestones over the coming weeks.

Thank you again for your incredible support - your donations are truly going to cement Dexter into Windsor's history for decades, and perhaps centuries, to come!

Merry Christmas to all Dexter fans, friends and family - I hope you've all had a wonderful day and looking forward to the new year ahead!

This is Dexter's current resting place, on our living room shelf in our new home. He's accompanied by a custom drawing by Connie Au, his Craft Coop memorial book, his Alma Vets paw print and a little glass pot of his fur. We moved here in October, and even though Dexter had never been here 'in person' it's comforting that he's been here in spirit and takes pride of place.

A massive thank you to everyone who signed the Dexter memorial book at Craft Coop (pictured), it was truly heartwarming to read all of the messages and an incredibly precious keepsake for us.

I've been quiet on here since the summer, but now the house move is complete and madness of the holiday season draws to a close, I aim to make more progress with Dexter's memorial.

Dexter is back with us, and quite rightly resting on a favourite chair ❤️🤍

At the time of organising his cremation, I wasn't ready to select an urn for him - so he is temporarily resting in a woodland ashes tube until an urn fitting for his remarkable character can be found!

Thank you to everyone who has donated towards his memorial statue - we are almost at £19,000! Which is truly incredible! The most popular idea very much seems to be a Dexter Trail instead of a single statue - it not seeming quite right that he should be remembered only in one place. An opportunity for us to 'spot Dexter' even though he is no longer with us.

Plans are in very early stages, but has a lot of local support. The funds shall remain with GoFundMe until monies are ready to be paid.

I will keep you all updated, and thank you again for all the warm support and generosity ❤️🤍

Since sharing the news of his passing, I’ve been totally blown away by the stories, memories, and love you’ve all shared. I thought there might be a fair few messages, but the response has been truly incredible. Honestly, I'm a blubbering mess!

What I didn’t expect was how many people asked the same thing:

“Will there be a statue?”

I’ve never asked for anything on Dexter’s behalf — no merch, no fundraising or contributions. He just lived his life, you all came along on his wonderful journey and he became a part of Windsor. But after hearing how many people want a lasting tribute, I’d love to try and make it happen — and I’d really appreciate your help.

I’m raising funds for a life-size outdoor statue of Dexter — something special to honour the joy he brought to so many people. I’ve started looking into options, and (spoiler alert) it’s not cheap!

I’m also hoping to create a custom urn for his ashes — something worthy of him — with the hope of eventually finding him a permanent resting spot somewhere in town - that feels like the right thing to do.

Any extra funds beyond the statue and urn will be donated to charity (charity to be confirmed at a kater date).

Windsor, it is with the heaviest of hearts that I share the news that our beloved Dexter is no longer with us.

As you know, Dexter was given only weeks to live back in February of this year due to having progressive heart disease. Armed with very strong medication, he had been facing the world with renewed vigour these past 5 months and continuing to live his life to the fullest - much against the odds.

Unfortunately, however, on Thursday afternoon, Dexter was tragically involved in a car accident. The impact was fatal. He died in the arms of two wonderful women who had seen the event unfold, and scooped him up and wrapped him in a blanket for his final moments before taking him to Alma Vets - I'm reassured that it was fast. We visited him shortly after, and he just looked like he was sleeping.

Cats are meant to have 9 lives, I think Dexter may have had twice as many in his wonderful 13 years and all of his many adventures. I am utterly heartbroken. The past 48 hours have been incredibly hard, but I am absolutely honoured to have been Dexter's mum, and I will love him forever ❤️
