Unlike pain meds or antibiotics, vaccines aren’t dosed based on body weight.

They’re designed to deliver the right amount of antigen to trigger the immune system, regardless of whether we’re vaccinating a Labrador or a Chihuahua.

A bigger dose in a larger dog wouldn’t make any difference in how effective the vaccine is but could increase the risk of side effects.

Like human vaccines, pet vaccines go through a lot of research before being available to use and are studied at length for safety and effectiveness.

Please remember that if we recommend certain vaccinations, it’s because we believe they’re what’s best for your pet, and we’ll always assess each case individually. ❤️

Did you know the adder (Vipera berus berus) is the only venomous snake native to the UK? 🤔

Adders are a protected species and are usually not aggressive, only biting when they feel threatened. They are most commonly found in areas such as dry, sandy heaths, sand dunes, rocky hillsides, moorlands and woodland edges, although they can appear elsewhere, too.

Pets are often bitten on the leg, head or neck, so it is important to stay alert when out walking, especially in areas where adders may live.

If you think your pet may have been bitten, even if you did not see the snake, get in touch with us immediately.
