Fenbendazole kills roundworms but does nothing for coccidia. Metronidazole treats Giardia (sometimes) but not whipworms. Research shows diatomaceous earth does nothing for G.I. parasites (but great, externally, for ticks and mites).

When a broad-spectrum dewormer is given "just in case," (ie. every month with a heartworm pill) it only covers some parasites, leaving others untouched, and leaving owners with a false sense of security that their animal is parasite-free (did we mention this messes up the microbiome and creates drug resistance?!)🤯.
