Zoo Closure: Friday 23rd October 2026 ⚠️

Due to strong winds and heavy rain forecast, we will be closed all day tomorrow, Friday 23rd October 2026.

We appreciate this may be disappointing for those planning to visit, and we do apologise for any inconvenience caused. The safety of our animals, guests and staff will always be our highest priority.

Guest with pre-booked tickets for Friday 23rd October will receive an email shortly and will be able to use their tickets to visit on any date up to and including Sunday 15th November 2026.

We hope to reopen on Saturday 24 October for Wild Autumn, but this will depend on conditions and the completion of safety checks across the zoo. Please check our website and social channels for updates before travelling.

Thank you for your understanding.

⭐ One star: “The habitats are overgrown!”

We're proudly guilty of creating wild, biodiverse habitats that encourage natural animal behaviours. 🌿

There's a lot more to all that greenery than meets the eye...

As a conservation charity, your visit helps us care for our zoo and support conservation projects around the world. Thank you for your support.

⭐ One star: “We didn’t see enough animals!”

We’re proudly guilty of giving our animals plenty of space to roam, explore, hide and choose where they want to be. 🐾

Sometimes the best animal encounters are worth waiting for.

As a conservation charity, every visit supports the care of our zoo and our global conservation projects. Thank you.

The votes have been counted, and the winner of Vote Wild is… our otters! 🥁🦦

This means £5,000 will go towards bringing this exciting project to life at Marwell! 🌿

We’ve also raised over £1,000 in additional donations, which will be shared across all six projects to help support their future development.

A huge thank you to everyone who voted and donated, whether online or in the Gift Shop, and to our Prize Pot Supporters:

- Waitrose & Partners Chandlers Ford and their customers
- Mazuri
- Kiezebrink
- Veritech Security
- SMI

We’d also like to thank our Token Supporters, Waitrose Chandlers Ford and Waitrose Wi******er, for helping make Vote Wild possible.

While the otters have won the £5,000 prize pot, fundraising for our other five projects is still ongoing! If you’d like to help bring these projects to life, you can donate here: https://bit.ly/MarwellVWFB

We hope to see all six projects come to life in the future, and we’re so grateful for your support in helping us take the next steps.

Follow along as we bring these projects to life! 🌿

Have you spotted our Chinese water deer yet? 🦌

We have two Chinese water deer here at Marwell, Po and Troy, who share their habitat with Tao the red panda.

Have you noticed their vampire-like fangs? Unlike most deer, Chinese water deer have long canine teeth that look just like little tusks!

Share your photos of our Chinese water deer in the comments below! 📸

Could you help us get £5,000 to support our animals?🤩🐾

The Benefact Group's Movement for Good special draw is giving 10 animal and wildlife charities the chance to receive £5,000, and we'd love to be one of them!

The more nominations we receive, the better our chances, so we need your help. 💚

Today is World Mental Health Day💚

Sometimes, a little time outdoors can make a difference.

Marwell isn’t just a family day out for the school holidays. Outside of the busy summer season, our 140 acres of parkland offer plenty of space to slow down, get some fresh air and spend time surrounded by nature.

Take a wander through our connecting woodland, which is free to explore, enjoy the changing colours of autumn, or spend a few quiet moments watching some of the more than 100 rare and endangered species in our care. 🍂

Whether you visit on your own, with a friend or with family, Marwell is a place to get outdoors and connect with nature. 🌿

Today, on World Animal Day, we’re sharing the story of our Southern white rhino calf, Amali. 🦏

Discover Amali’s story and watch A Formula for Recovery now: https://bit.ly/MWFBAFFR

While you may now see Amali happily exploring Marwell, the first few weeks of her life were very different. Amali spent eight weeks receiving intensive care, with teams from across Marwell and further afield coming together to support her recovery.

Her care involved the knowledge and expertise of many people, including our keepers and veterinary team, alongside the team at Liphook Equine Hospital.

It was a huge collaborative effort, and we’re incredibly proud of everyone who played a part in helping Amali recover. 🦏✨

We raised over £22,500 for tiger conservation! 🐯

On Sunday, we welcomed 1,220 runners to Marwell for the Marwell 10K, taking on a 10K route around the zoo and surrounding areas.

It was inspiring to see so many people take on the challenge, with runners, volunteers, fundraisers and supporters all coming together to help protect tigers in Bhutan.

A huge thank you to Steve Collins at Running Mania for organising the event, our amazing fundraising team, and all of our wonderful volunteers who helped make the day possible.

It was fantastic to see so many people cheering the runners on and supporting the event. We couldn't have done it without you! ✨

With fewer than 5,000 tigers remaining in the wild, there is still so much work to do to help protect this incredible species. 🐅

If you'd like to support tiger conservation, there's still time to donate.
