Say hello to Louie — a gentle, affectionate gentleman who’s ready to settle into a calm, predictable home. 🐾❤️ He arrived with us feeling a bit unsettled after his previous household welcomed a new baby and a dog, but with patience and a peaceful environment he has really blossomed. Louie loves being close to his people and is happiest when he can relax and enjoy quiet company. 🛋️😺

A little about Louie:
- Friendly, calm and affectionate 🥰
- Thrives in a peaceful, predictable home 🕊️
- Recently had dental treatment which is healing well 🦷✨
- Has mild age-related posture changes but they’re not causing him problems at the moment ✅

🐾 A HUGE thank you to Andy! 🐾

We were overwhelmed by the response to our recent appeal for kitten wet food to help feed the 20+ kittens currently in our care.

Today, we received an incredible donation from Andy, who very kindly purchased EIGHT large boxes of kitten food from our wishlist! 💕🐱

Support like this makes such a difference. Every pouch helps keep our growing kittens healthy, happy, and thriving while they wait for their forever homes.

As we celebrate Volunteer Week, we're shining a spotlight on the incredible people who give their time to support Cats Protection Dorset Cat Centre.

Our volunteers play a vital role in helping us care for cats in need, support adopters, and raise the funds that keep our work going. Their dedication makes a real difference every day, and we're always looking for more people to join our team.

We are currently recruiting Fundraising Volunteers. Wolunteering is a fantastic way to meet new people, learn new skills, and help improve the lives of cats and kittens across Dorset.

No previous fundraising experience is needed – just enthusiasm, creativity, and a passion for helping cats!

🐾 Kitten Food Appeal – We Need Your Help! 🐾
We’re currently caring for over 20 kittens, and our wet food supplies are running very low. Right now, we only have 3 boxes of wet food left on our shelves — and it won’t last long!
If you’re able to help, we would be so grateful for any donations of kitten wet food in jelly. Our kittens love and do best on Whiskas and Felix brands, but anything suitable for kittens would be hugely appreciated 💛
Every pouch helps us keep these little ones fed, healthy, and happy while they wait for their forever homes.
If you can donate, you can buy directly from our wishlist or drop donations into the centre. We're open daily 12pm-4pm (closed Wed).

🐾💙 It's Volunteer Week! 💙🐾

This week, we want to say a huge THANK YOU to all of our wonderful volunteers at Cats Protection Dorset Cat Centre.

From helping to care for our cats, supporting adoptions, assisting with administration, maintaining our centre, and representing us in the community, our volunteers make an incredible difference every single day. Their dedication, kindness, and hard work help us give hundreds of cats the care and second chance they deserve.

Quite simply, we couldn't do what we do without them. Thank you for giving your time, energy, and compassion to support our cats and our team. You are truly valued and appreciated. 🐱❤️

🏠🐱 Good News for Cat Owners Renting in England 🐱🏠

From 1 May 2026, the new Renters’ Rights Act gives private tenants in England the right to make a written request to keep a pet in their rented home — and landlords cannot unreasonably refuse. ❤️

Requests for a single cat are expected to almost always be considered reasonable.

A landlord cannot refuse simply because:
❌ They don’t like cats
❌ They are worried about possible damage

However, there are some situations where refusal may still be considered reasonable, including:
⚠️ Another tenant has a cat allergy
⚠️ The property is too small for the number of cats requested
⚠️ The building owner/freeholder does not allow pets

This is a huge step forward in helping more cats stay with the people who love them 🐾

Following yesterday’s precautionary closure due to a gas leak in the local area, we’re pleased to advise we are back open as normal today.
A huge thank you to Dorset Fire & Rescue, Dorset Police, SGN and everyone involved for keeping us fully informed and updated throughout the afternoon.
We’re very grateful for their support and our team's efforts in helping us ensure the wellbeing of the cats in our care, leaving cats like Tequila & Guinness here blissfully unaware of events going on nearby.
Huge thanks to everyone involved for their hard work. The roads are now reopen albeit with traffic lights so if visiting the centre, you may need to allow a little extra time.
