Some photos from the last few days of walks. We’ve had some very sunny, warm walks and some very soggy wet ones!

From secure fields, to swimming in the rain, we’ve had a blast so far this week! 💙🐾

What a great couple of days we’ve had despite the rainy weather! ☔️

We had had new faces and old faces this week! Basil is back after having a few months off and absolutely loved his time with Sunny and Wesley this afternoon.

Some very soggy but very happy pups! 🐶

Throwback to last summer when we thought we’d try and get a lovely video of the three of us running out to sea….

Just when you think you’re past the teenage phase and enjoying life with a more mature dog, they never fail to surprise you 🤣 for context that ball was purchased appropriately 2 hours before this video was taken🤦‍♀️🤣

That’s a wrap on another week! 🐾Thank you as always to all my lovely clients for trusting me with your dogs. Have a love...

Early starts are definitely worth it when you get to these those pink skies!

A lovely early morning walk today, with the sunrise making an appearance as we headed out. Followed by a fun filled afternoon with Stumpy, Gina, Sunny and Peanut 🐾☀️

There’s something so peaceful about being out with the dogs first thing, watching the world wake up while they get their morning zoomies and sniffing done!

A beautiful start to another busy day!

Training in a higher distraction environment!

Today I took Maeve out for a little training session somewhere with more distractions than she’s used to, and honestly, this is such an important part of training that can sometimes get overlooked!

It’s easy to think a dog has “learnt” something because they can do it perfectly at home or somewhere quiet, but dogs don’t automatically understand that the same rules apply everywhere.

We also worked on settling around distractions. Rather than constantly asking Maeve to do something, I wanted her to learn that sometimes the best thing she can do is simply switch off, relax and watch the world go by. This is such a valuable skill, especially for dogs who can get excited or overwhelmed in busy environments. I rewarded her for choosing to relax, checking in with me and remaining calm while things were happening around her.

By gradually increasing distractions, other dogs, people, smells, noises, movement and a new environment, we can help them learn to focus on us even when there’s lots going on around them.

The key is not throwing them straight into the hardest environment possible. Instead, we want to build them up gradually, rewarding the behaviours we want and making sure they’re still able to think and listen.

Today was all about practicing, rewarding and keeping things positive rather than expecting perfection. Training isn’t about getting everything right every time, it’s about making progress!

A good reminder for anyone training their dog:
If your dog can do it perfectly at home but struggles outside, they probably haven’t forgotten the training, the environment is simply asking more of them.

What a fun filled week we had last week! 🐾

It’s been so nice now the weather has cooled down slightly to be back out having some fun and seeing all of our friends again! 🤍
