🐹 Meet Fidget, Nugget and Iggy! 💚

These three lovely guinea pigs popped into practice for a little pamper session and to have their nails trimmed! ✂️🐾

Guinea pigs' nails grow continuously, so regular nail checks and trims are important to keep their feet healthy and comfortable.

If your guinea pigs are due a nail trim, our nursing team are always happy to help! 💚

🐹🦷 Guinea Pig Dental Health

Guinea pigs' teeth are constantly growing, so plenty of good-quality hay is essential to help keep them worn down naturally.

Signs of dental problems include:
• Drooling
• Difficulty eating or dropping food
• Weight loss
• Reduced appetite

Dental problems can be painful and difficult to spot, so it's important to monitor your guinea pig's eating habits and weight.

If you notice any changes, contact your veterinary practice for advice. 💚

🐹 Guinea Pig Awareness Week – Gut Stasis! 🌿

Did you know that a guinea pig's digestive system needs to keep moving constantly?

Gut stasis is a serious, potentially life-threatening condition where the digestive system slows down or stops working properly.

🚨 Signs to look out for:

Reduced appetite or not eating

Fewer, smaller or no droppings

Bloating or a painful tummy

Lethargy or hiding away

Teeth grinding (a sign of pain)

🌿 Prevention is key!
Providing unlimited good-quality hay, fresh water, a balanced diet and plenty of exercise helps keep their digestive system healthy.

❤️ Remember: If your guinea pig stops eating or passing droppings, contact your vet immediately. Gut stasis is an emergency and early treatment can save lives!
