🐾 IMPORTANT IF YOU FEED RAW… THIS IS WORTH KNOWING 👀

We wanted to share something with our customers that we feel is genuinely important when choosing a raw food for your dog. ❤️

Although we don’t stock PRIME Raw, we’ve had quite a few customers come into K9 Chef over the last couple of weeks who weren’t aware that some PRIME recipes contain poultry/chicken components, despite another protein being the headline protein.

We’ve looked directly at PRIME’s own website, and there are some examples worth knowing about:

🐶 Beef & Salmon — PRIME’s composition lists 30% beef, 30% salmon, 20% poultry and 8% poultry bone. PRIME also specifically states that this recipe is not suitable for dogs with chicken allergies.

🐶 Duck Complete — the composition includes duck, lamb liver and 10% poultry bone.

🐶 Turkey Complete — PRIME states that this is 80% turkey, 10% bone and 10% offal, but also includes a note that their minces may contain chicken bone content and therefore aren’t suitable for dogs with chicken allergies or sensitivities.

These are taken directly from PRIME’s own product information.

We’re sharing this for customer awareness, not to criticise PRIME. ❤️

If you are specifically looking for a single-protein food — particularly if your dog has a chicken allergy or sensitivity — it’s really important to look beyond the name of the recipe and check the full composition.

We’ve had customers recently who weren’t aware of this and have chosen to swap to alternatives such as Stobart or Raw Roll because they were specifically looking for single-protein options.

At K9 Chef, we believe you should always have the information needed to make the right choice for your own dog. 🐾

Even when it’s a brand we don’t stock, if we find something that could be important to our customers, we’ll share it.

A little bit of real-life K9 Chef 🐾❤️

I thought I’d share something I actually use on my own dog because, like so many dogs, he suffers with allergies and every now and again his ears need a little extra TLC.

This is Clorexyderm Oto Ear Cleansing Solution 👂🐶

When his allergies flare up, his ears can become more irritated and prone to that build-up of wax and moisture. This is one of the products I reach for as part of his ear-care routine.

✨ So what does it actually do?

🐾 Helps gently dissolve excess ear wax and debris
🐾 Helps keep the ear canal clean and hygienic
🐾 Helps control the overgrowth of yeast and bacteria
🐾 Has an acidifying and drying action, helping create an environment that’s less favourable for unwanted microorganisms
🐾 Can be particularly useful for dogs prone to recurring ear problems
🐾 Suitable for dogs and cats

For my boy, it’s not something I use constantly — it’s something I use when his ears need that little bit of extra attention. ❤️

A little reminder: if your dog has painful, very red, swollen or smelly ears, is shaking their head constantly or seems uncomfortable, it’s always best to get them checked by your vet rather than simply cleaning at home.

Fish can be a fantastic addition to your dog’s diet as it’s naturally packed with omega-3 fatty acids, which can support healthy skin and a shiny coat, as well as helping support joints and overall wellbeing. It’s also a great source of high-quality protein, and oily fish such as sardines and sprats provide those beneficial EPA and DHA omega-3s. 🐶✨
