I often get asked the same questions about Fell ponies…

Can Fell ponies jump?
What do you actually do with them? 🤨
What can Fell ponies do?
What do you breed them for? 🤔
Could you event a Fell pony?

And I am slightly ashamed to admit… when I first started helping my grandparents, I asked if they could jump myself! But in my defence, the Fell pony I rode as a child would not jump! 😂

I was so used to seeing them feral on the fell, or being ridden around a show ring, that I’d never really thought about what else they could do.

My Nana’s response was simply, “yes, they can do anything!” and she wasn’t wrong!

The more I’ve done with them, the more I realise just how versatile these little ponies are. They really will have a go at anything you ask of them 🥹

I think my long-term goal would be to do a ODE on one of our ponies. I’ve got all the confidence in them… whether I have the confidence in myself is another question! 😂

But watching Maisy flying round the cross country like this does make me think… maybe we should give it a go 👀
