Subtle isn’t he?! 🙄

Maybe he has a career as a search dog? 🕵️‍♂️

For now, he’s going to be attending puppy classes 🧡🤍

And that’s a wrap on four days of workshops for Harburn Dog Academy! 🐾

We finished with one of my favourites… the Multiple Dog Workshop 🐶🐶

Two different groups across the morning and afternoon, all with their own mix of ages, skill sets, life requirements and, of course, those little quirks that come with living in a multiple-dog household! 😂

It’s been such a lovely four days. I’m incredibly grateful to have been invited back to teach, and it’s been brilliant to see familiar faces throughout the workshops, as well as meeting lots of new people and dogs who I hope will become regular faces in the future. ❤️

And today’s Scottish weather report… 🌦️
A strong breeze for most of the day, with smatterings of sideways drizzle thrown in for good measure. Thankfully, I mostly managed not to actually get wet! 😂

Four days of teaching, problem-solving, dogs, people and plenty of fresh Scottish air has been brilliant… but I’m not going to lie, I am TIRED! 😴

So now it’s time to head somewhere very remote, switch off and attempt to restore some sort of work/life balance. 🌲🏡

…although there may be a tiny bit of 2027 work planning happening while I’m there. 🤔😂

Because apparently I don’t actually know how to have a holiday. 🤦‍♀️

Thank you — it’s been a pleasure! 🐾❤️

Day 3️⃣ — DONE ✔️

Today was another Progressive Gundog Workshop with a group I’ve met a few times before 🌟

Which meant we could take things up a notch… dummy launcher AND cold game! 🦆💥

The dogs did brilliantly, working on long retrieves, stops and sending backs — with the added challenge of a strategically placed scented dummy 😈

Because obviously, we can’t make things too easy! 😂

And today’s Scottish weather report…
💨 Windy as hell
🌧️ Interspersed with sideways rain
🌧️💨 Occasional combination of both

So basically… delightful. 😂

And then afterwards I found Kohl’s likeness in a wooden carving… 🦖

Who else has a puppy and can relate?! 😂
Teeth, chaos and absolutely no regrets.

Day 2 2️⃣
Done ✔️

What a great day with the beginner group!
Introducing the basics:
Heelwork
Retrieves
Self control

Hope to see them back next time!

Kohl also stepped out to do his first demo today and as you can see he brought aaalll of the personality 🖤
He smashed it and showed some real time learning of something we’ve not taught before to explain how to do it in a fun way! 🤡

The rest of the guys:
Finch 🤎🤍 did a demo on hunting and self control
Clarke 🖤 demoed retrieves and stops (with some added spins for flair)
Morse 🤎 had a day off
Heath 🤎 enjoyed his retired life of walks and getting whatever he wants

What did you do with your Saturday?

Ps… the weather …. Was kind to us all day!!!

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Scotland
Day one 1️⃣ — DONE! 👍

Today was Progressive Gundog, with a group I’ve had the pleasure of working with a few times before 🐦

And the Scottish weather certainly provided the full experience…

☀️ Sunburn
💨 Windburn
🌧️ Rain

…all conveniently timed to finish just in time for me to go and walk my own dogs! 😂

So here we are, back in our drying coats, sporting a rather impressive collection:

🟢Ruff & Tumble
🦓 & 🔴Lahdedah Dogs
🟣Fast & Furious
🟢🟡 🦖 Barker & Browns

Because apparently six dogs means six opinions on drying coats. 🤣

And seeing as the wetter weather is very much on its way…

What’s your wet-weather dog necessity? 🌧️🐶

The thing you absolutely wouldn’t want to be without when it’s wet, muddy and generally doing its best to ruin your day?! 😂

👇 Tell me yours!

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿➡️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿I’ve crossed the border again…

Apparently I don’t go on holiday. I just go and work in different countries. 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

So, I’ve crossed the border into Scotland once again, and this time I’m back teaching for Harburn Dog Academy! 🐶🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I’ll be getting stuck into a mixture of:

🐾 Beginner Gundog
🐾 Progressive Gundog
🐾 And one of my favourites… the Multiple Dog Workshop! 👀🐶🐶🐶

Because obviously, if one dog is challenging enough, why not add several?! 😂

I always love getting the opportunity to work with different dogs, handlers and training setups, and I’m looking forward to another few days of teaching, learning and generally talking about dogs far too much. 🤣

Meanwhile, my own classes are having a little pause while I’m off gallivanting across borders for work…

But service resumes Monday 12th October! 🙌🏻

I’d say “normal“ Service… But have you met my Monday groups?! LOL 😂

So if you’re wondering where I am…

Nope, not on holiday.

I’m working in another country again. 😂🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🐶

30/09/2026

Here’s your weekly cockerpoo fix

Vinny had BIG opinions about other dogs when we first met… 👀🐶

And, apparently, he also had some pretty strong opinions about me. 😂

We’ve worked through a few things since then:

🎯 Timing of rewards — learning to recognise and capture the moments we actually want rather than just reacting to what’s happening.

🐕 Heelwork — no more dragging his human down the street and making rash decisions! We slowed everything down, gave the lead walk some purpose and started teaching Vinny that walking with his person is actually a worthwhile activity.

🚀 Recall — building games that create a fast, enthusiastic response and, just as importantly, keeping that recall strong when there are distractions around.

Today we started putting some of those pieces together…

And Vinny did GREAT. 🙌🏻

He was thinking, listening and making some much better choices — which is exactly what we want.

Although…

I have discovered that there is still one thing Vinny has VERY strong feelings about…

My dryrobe. 🙄😂

So next time I’ll ditch the dryrobe and see if that improves our relationship. 🤣

Progress comes in many forms… apparently waterproof clothing is not one of them. 😂
