💍🐾 MY FIRST WEDDING CHAPERONE – A DAY I’LL NEVER FORGET 🐾💍
Firstly, a huge congratulations to Axl’s beautiful Mum & Dad on their wedding day. 💙🥂
It still feels quite surreal looking back at these photos, because this was a very special first for Muddy Paws Happy Tails… and for me. My very first wedding chaperone, and the absolute honour of walking the gorgeous Axl down the aisle as their ring bearer. 🐾💍
It all started with a meet & greet on a field and the words, “Would you walk Axl down the aisle for us?” 😭
I don't think either of us quite realised at that moment just how much planning would go into it! We got our heads together and worked everything around their beautiful royal blue colour scheme. Axl had his very smart wedding outfit, a matching royal blue lead, the car was dressed with royal blue ribbons and, of course, I had to match too — royal blue suit and all! 💙
Then came the moment…
Walking Axl down that aisle was honestly one of the most emotional and overwhelming experiences. At first, he couldn't quite work out where his Dad was. I remember pointing and saying, “He's there, Axl… look, he's there!”
And then he spotted him. 🥹💙
That was it.
Of course, no wedding involving a dog was ever going to go completely to plan! 😂 Trying to get the little ring holder off Axl's collar became one of those hilarious moments where everyone was laughing — meanwhile I'm thinking, “COME ON… GET OFF!” 🤣💍
Yes, the nerves definitely kicked in!
Then came the photoshoot… which involved all of us desperately trying to get Axl to look at the photographer when Axl was FAR more interested in whatever was happening in the trees below. 😂🐿️
But that's what made it so perfect.
It wasn't staged. It wasn't flawless. It was Axl. ❤️
And amongst all the excitement of the wedding, Axl's welfare always came first. 🐾❤️
It was a warm day, so after the ceremony we headed back for a well-earned drink. I had plenty of fresh, cool water waiting for him in the car, along with lots of treats. If at any point things became a little too busy or overwhelming for him, we simply stepped away from the celebrations and went for a quiet walk and some time out.
Because being a wedding chaperone isn't just about getting your dog down the aisle, carrying the rings or posing for beautiful photographs. It's about having someone there whose job is to watch your dog, understand what they need and make sure they're happy, comfortable and cared for throughout their part of your special day. 💙🐾
From that first conversation on a field, to planning every little detail, dressing the car, matching the wedding colours, carrying those very important rings and finally walking that gorgeous boy down the aisle to his Dad… it was an absolute privilege to be trusted with such an important part of their day.
I can genuinely say I will never, ever forget it.
Thank you both for putting your trust in me and allowing me and Muddy Paws Happy Tails to play a little part in such a huge moment in your lives.
My first wedding chaperone.
My first four-legged ring bearer.
And what an incredible little gentleman Axl was. 💙🐾💍
A truly unforgettable day and an absolute honour.
Congratulations again to the new Mr & Mrs. 🥂💙
And Axl… you absolutely smashed it, mate. 🐾💙
