Billy-Buttons had his last laser therapy yesterday. He’s doing amazing! He’s also having regular reiki, and we’re putting boots on him to stop mud getting in his hooves.
He had a few shaky days at the beginning of the week, but he’s now doing brilliantly. It’s so wonderful to see ☺️

AMAZING 🤩 After my last post, where I pleaded for help to clear our vet bill, an extremely kind and generous lady called our vet, and paid off the £550 we had outstanding 😲 She asked to remain anonymous, so I don’t know who it is, so I hope she reads this and accepts our deep gratitude 🙏🥰🙏🥰
Isn’t it amazing how wonderful people are ❤️❤️❤️

We are now at £1900 of our £2000 target - I’m flabbergasted! Thank you to everyone who has helped so far and to everyone who continues to help us push that target 🙌
The work never ends, so the thermometer will have to start up again soon, and hopefully we can hit another £2000 target over nov and December

£250 has been paid off our vet bill, but that still leaves us with £550 outstanding. andrewmellingvets are being incredibly patient with us and I’m every so grateful to them for that. Their team provide an excellent service to us, and they deserve to be paid asap!

Our October volunteer session was EPIC - I’m only just recovering 🤪
We had a delivery on 45 bales from Croft Equestrian & Pet Supplies - so first job was cracking on with shifting them to the caravan at the back of the field, for storage. Then we split the field, so we can rest half of it for a few weeks. And rolled out a LARGE round bale of hay for them to eat. Heavy work 🥵
There was also water pumped, gates built, sweeping done and hooves trimmed and treated. 💪💪💪

Specialist care and new boots for Billy Buttons! 🩺🥾🐐❤️

We had a very exciting (and incredibly kind) visitor down at the field today. A wonderful veterinary physiotherapist came out to give Billy his very first session of laser therapy to help manage his arthritis.
In an absolutely amazing act of community kindness, she has offered to provide these specialized sessions completely FREE for him over the coming weeks to see if it helps ease his stiff joints. We are so incredibly grateful! Starkie Vet Physio 🥹✨
Along with his high-tech laser therapy, Billy has also been fitted with some specialized protective boots to keep his feet safe, dry, and comfortable down in the yard. He took to them like an absolute natural! 💅🥾

Providing this level of dedicated, dignified rehabilitation for our older residents means the world to us—but we can only do it with your help.

Come to our volunteer session this Sunday, 4th October, starting 9.30am and help us put more hay out for the animals 🐐🐏

There’s loads of other jobs to do if hay isn’t your thing. New volunteers always welcome 😃

Help needed!!

Billy-Buttons is really struggling with arthritis now, and with the weather turning he is starting to get scald on his feet. I desperately want to do something to help him NOW, before it’s too late.
The vet has already advised that we should probably let him go before winter - but his spirit is just too strong 😢

So I’m looking for ideas and experiences of treating goats with arthritis! Please comment if you can offer any insights. We’re already trying;
Turmeric (with black pepper)
Micronised linseed
Rosehip
Glucosamine
Phytodroitin
Metacam

I’m looking into trying a physiotherapist or reiki, and having another look at getting him some boots to keep his feet dry. And I’m open to ANY other ideas
These new things will cost a lot of money, and we already have a £800 outstanding vet bill 😩
Our campaign to raise £2000 has been going well - we’re nearly half way there 🙌 - but I’d like to hit our target by the end of this month 🙏🙏🙏
