Did you know, tragically, between 14% and 26% of dogs affected by heatstroke, dont recover. The average temperature for triggering HRI is just 16.9°C, and almost half of cases are triggered by exercise.

One of the most dangerous untruths I hear from dog owners during a heatwave 👀

Dogs don't always stop before they're struggling!

🥎 They'll keep chasing the ball.
🐶 They'll keep walking.
🐾 They'll keep trying to keep up with you.

⚠️High-Risk Breeds: Flat-faced (brachycephalic) dogs, such as Pugs, Bulldogs, and French Bulldogs, are especially at risk, making up nearly half of all heatstroke cases and being over four times more likely to develop HRI than mesocephalic (average-snouted) dogs.

⚠️Age & Weight: Heavier dogs and older dogs (over two years old) are more likely to develop severe cases.

We dont say these things for no reason.

Doggo paddling pools, late evening walks, iced water and cooling mats at the ready.
Keep those pooches safe during the next few days.
Unfortunately I dont have air conditioning in the salon just yet, and the sun directly shines into the pod from early morning to mid afternoon. So during hot days, bookings will primarily be in the early/late evening to ensure the dogs safety. If im struggling in the heat in the salon, the dogs are to. Especially nervous, anxious or reactive dogs. There is no bigger importance at Labradorable than the welfare of the dogs.
