Yesterday was the equine winter migration! The donkeys moved into the barn to have more space indoors through the winter months when they don’t want to experience the Scottish wind and rain. And the miniature ponies who are perfectly designed for such weather moved to the front of the farm! 🫏 🐴

I’ve been quiet on the page the last week as I was away on holiday down near Elgin. Just me and the dogs on our one week off a year! It was such a relaxing perfect time away. Lots of lovely walks and cosy times inside reading!
Big thanks to my little sister for looking after the farm while I was away 💕

This morning the last B&B guests of the season finish their breakfast and head off on their next adventure around the Highlands. It’s been another very busy season in the B&B and have met people from all over the world on their holidays as well as those finishing (or starting) their journey from Lands End. On foot, bike, tandem or horse!

The lambs went back to their home this morning at The Croft. After spending their spring being bottle fed by so many of you and then a summer being cuddled they are happy strong lambs now and so on to live in the big fields with the grown up sheep. 🐑 💝

Yesterday i unexpectedly lost 57. She went from happily eating carrots from visitors to having huge amounts of blood pouring from her mouth and dying a few minutes later. It was shocking, upsetting and I don’t know what happened. Even the vet said they had never seen anything like it before. Deaths like these are hard, a healthy strong animal with no pre symptoms and no time to do anything when it happens.
57. My goat whose name was a number. Born on the farm and made up mostly of ears. She will be missed.

Here are a few of the good things happening at Puffin Croft the past two days- the view of a double rainbow from the kitchen window, surprise flowers from a friend and TWO double yoker eggs for my breakfast- a first for me!!
