🐴 HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO BECOME A CONFIDENT HORSE RIDER?🐎

Have you ever wondered how many hours it takes to learn to ride? 🤔

Learning to ride is an exciting journey, and every rider progresses at their own pace! 💜

At Murton Equestrian Centre, we help riders build their skills, confidence and understanding of horses, one lesson at a time.

🌟 Your riding journey might look something like this:

🐴 0–10 hours: Getting started – learning to mount, balance, steer and stop safely.

🐴 10–30 hours:Building confidence – developing your balance, learning rising trot and improving control.

🐴 30–60 hours: Becoming more competent – improving transitions, steering and balance, and working towards canter when ready.

🐴 60–100+ hours: Developing proficiency – building an independent seat, consistent control and greater confidence in the saddle.

💡 Did you know? With one riding lesson per week, it could take around two years to reach 100 hours of riding!

Remember, these are only approximate guidelines. Everyone learns differently, and becoming a good rider is about much more than the hours spent in the saddle. Understanding horse behaviour, grooming, tacking up and caring for your horse are all important parts of becoming a knowledgeable horseperson. ❤️

Whether you are a complete beginner, returning to riding after a break, or looking to improve your existing skills, we have opportunities to help you progress.

🎙️🐴 NEW ANIMALWEB PODCAST: Could riding schools be changing lives in ways we don't always recognise?

For many of us, riding schools are where our love of horses first began. But what if their impact goes far beyond learning to ride? 💭❤️

In our latest Animalweb Podcast, Helen Stock is joined by Andrew Stennett, founder of Grove House Stables and I-Pegasus CIC, and British Horse Society Generalist Trustee for Approved Centres.

From starting out with just one horse, one pony and a very muddy field to building an award-winning riding centre, Andrew has an extraordinary story to tell! 🐎

But this conversation goes much deeper than horses and riding lessons.

💚 How can horses make a difference to young people who struggle in traditional education?

🌟 Are we underestimating the wider value of riding schools within our communities?

⚠️ And with mounting pressures on equestrian businesses, what does the future hold for the places that introduce so many people to horses?

Andrew shares his personal experiences, the challenges facing the industry and why he believes riding centres deserve greater recognition for the work they do.

🎧 An inspiring, honest and thought-provoking conversation that anyone involved with horses should hear!

👉 Listen to the latest Animalweb Podcast and discover why riding schools really can be about so much more than riding.
