Our puppies had a wonderful time practising their threshold manners before venturing into the woodland and into our woodland pens for some confidence building, proofing and fun!

Part of the magic of training with SpiritedDog Training&Behaviour is how in one venue, you get various different environments to train in, indoor and outdoor, so your puppy gets to experience new things safely, ready for the outside world when you're taking them on adventures!

Recall is one of the most important safety skills, and at the core of it, it's our dog understanding that when we ask them to come back, they have to come back. So why is your recall going so wrong?? Why does your dog run the opposite direction, blank you, or carry on sniffing when you ask them to come back?

Here's a few common mistakes we see, but that are easily fixed:
⭐ You call your dog & then put them back on lead every time
🔴 Your dog learns recall = fun over
⭐ There's a huge difference and big deal between 'on-lead' and 'off-lead'
🔴 Your dog learns that off-lead is a special, precious time and they NEED to make the most of it
⭐ You call them back with the 'parent voice'
🔴 Your dog thinks 'Woah they sound angry at me, I better stay back here and enjoy my sniffing'

Here's what you can do instead:
✅ Recall games to build patterns and muscle memory
✅ Enrichment and play to build your relationship, bond and trust
✅ Reinforcement that REALLY matters to your dog, which often ISN'T FOOD!

Pet Insurance is reaching a point that owners could end up being priced out of taking care of their dogs ! What is meant to be a safety net and accessible to all for covering our furry families health needs, is becoming a "luxury" that most are unable to afford.

We have struggle time and time again to search for new insurance for Kayto due to his age. Never claiming and yet being priced out of renewing with the same insurer as they boost the premium by 50% plus every time !!

My good friend Katie is looking at taking a stand. I urge owners to look into the petition linked here and join us

We believe that many pet owners face huge & unsustainable rises in their monthly pet insurance on renewal far above inflation & income growth with limited transparency or ability to switch providers due to even minor pre-existing conditions leaving many effectively locked into their current insurer.

Our next puppy class starts soon! It'll cover all the skills you'll want and need as a dog owner, like recall, loose-lead and impulse control, but also work on handling skills, socialisation and you'll even get to try your hand at some dogsports and scentwork!
