Moving to a new yard brings fresh energy, and Katie Gorwits-Chapman and Benji are using it to the fullest.

It’s always a privilege to coach friends, but seeing the breakthrough moments firsthand makes it even better.

The progress they’ve made since the last time I saw them is a testament to their consistency and patience.

Our dressage team is officially out working on week one of their training plans for the upcoming Bay Riding Club Dressage League.

Over the next four weeks, every horse and rider pair will be following a structured, individual training program designed to sharpen their movements, build strength, and fine-tune their tests.

We are leaving no detail to chance so they feel confident, prepared, and ready to perform at their absolute best when show day arrives.

Watch this space to follow their progress over the next month as they prepare for the league!

✨ Here’s how to show your horse appreciation during and after every ride:
During the Ride

The Release: Yielding the reins or leg pressure immediately tells your horse, "Spot on—take a break!"

Wither Scratches > Patting: Scratches mimic herd grooming, which lowers their heart rate and signals real safety.

Soft Voice: A gentle, quiet "good boy/girl" marks the exact second they give you honest effort.

Finishing the Ride
Quit on a High Note: As classical master Etienne Beudant said, "Demand little, repeat often, praise a lot." When they give you brilliant work, wrap up early as the ultimate reward!
A Long, Loose Cool-Down: A relaxed walk on a long rein lets them decompress physically and mentally.

Post-Ride Gratitude:
Grooming, checking their comfort, and handing over a treat translates human thanks into a language they love.

Praise builds confidence and pride, turning a routine workout into a true partnership. ❤️
