I've had the most amazing bank holiday at Spanish camp ☺️
My good friends Julie Chuter Nicholas and Paul Bettens held a camp at their Ganaderia Hada JCN and Larkshall Stud over the bank holiday. It was so lovely to catch up with my Iberian family old and new, the board games on the Friday evening were great fun. Saturday was a little rained off but I enjoyed a plaiting clinic with the lovely Cassy Gadsby Equine Coaching and learnt a lot, Herbert also came to watch ☺️. Saturday evening was filled with wine and good food and lots of catching up. Sunday I was privileged to have a lesson on the wonderful temp with Clair Lilly, we got to work on contact and working correctly and some walk pirouettes into canter, great fun 😁. I was then very lucky to borrow a super Connie pony from Esther Bryans for the working equitation with Cassy Gadsby which was good fun and very informative, what a fabulous sport for humans and horses. Camp so much fun 😊 can't wait till the next one 🍷🦄🐴🇪🇸♥️

Back from a lovely but long few days at the New forest and Hampshire show. I've been on chief groom duty for these two. The new forest is one of my favourite shows, but it's big and busy for the horses.
Pete has done an absolutely amazing job at introducing finally to all that was going on and showing him the world. A lot for a 2yr old to take in, but he took it all in his stride as long as Pete was there 😊
They did a great show in the competition horse class and came away with a 5th place 😁🐴❤️
Super proud of them 🙂

⚠️ Equine flu ⚠️

I'm sure we are all aware of the current outbreak of flu in the equine world. While I have been travelling around shows the last few weeks, I've got to say passport checks for vaccinations have been very good. One show asked for my horses temperature to be taken the week leading up to the show and emailed, another I couldn't collect my number until passport checked and vet certificate issued. Vaccination policy has been like this for years so nothing to new but good to see it being enforced.
However all of these protocols happen before you enter the showground. The lorry park is often left out of this. So I'm taking my own precautions and am carrying a spray bottle and disinfectant, so I can spray lorry wheels, equipment ect before I leave the showground or unpack at home. I also carry gloves and lots of wash/disinfectant for the people with me too. My lorry is also washed out with disinfectant after most journey's (that's just how I was taught) so that's normal for me.
I wonder how many others do the same, let's face it we are all tired after days at competitions and things can easily be forgotten.
I personally feel we all have a little responsibility to try and manage these outbreaks and simple steps like this can help
