🐾 Hendrix — Henny 🐾

I’ve known Hendrix for many years now, and she is definitely a dog who makes you earn her trust. Once you have it, though, she is incredibly loyal, loving and affectionate. ❤️
And if she doesn’t trust you… believe me, she’ll let you know! 🙈😂

I’m so happy to say that Henny and I have built a really special relationship over the years — one built on boundaries, understanding, trust and, of course, plenty of fun. 🥰

With a dog like Hendrix, you need to be able to read her. You need to understand what she’s telling you and respect her boundaries to get the very best from her. After all these years, I feel like I can read Henny like a book, and that’s something I’m incredibly proud of.

And today… Henny came back! 🥹❤️

I really should have videoed her reaction when she saw me because honestly, I nearly cried! It was the sweetest welcome and reminded me just how special the bond we’ve built really is.

So happy to have you back, Henny. 🐾❤️
I’ve missed you more than you know! 🥰

Today I had the pleasure of walking these two beautiful little sausages so their family could enjoy a lovely day out.

🐾 Winnie & Milo 🐾

Although it was still quite warm today, we were lucky enough to have a refreshing breeze coming off the Fleet. To help keep them cool and prevent them from overexerting themselves, they stayed on lead for the whole walk. They certainly didn't need any extra help getting hotter! ☀️

It was so lovely getting to know these two today, and I hope their family plans another day out soon so I get to see them again! 😉🐶

If you're planning a day out and want peace of mind that your pooch will have a safe, enjoyable walk to break up their day, I'd be more than happy to help.

📩 Feel free to get in touch to chat about your dog's walking needs!

I don't usually work Fridays, but these two handsome boys were booked in all week while their owners are away on holiday. 💙🐾

Unfortunately, with this week's heat, we've had to miss a couple of their walks. Their safety will always come first, even if that means changing plans.

Today was finally cool enough to get them out, but with the humidity still high and when the sun came out it was pretty hot, I kept things nice and steady. I even popped them back on their leads to stop them overexerting themselves. Sometimes the safest walk isn't the most exciting one, and that's absolutely okay.

Happy, safe dogs will always be my priority. 🐶❤️

☀️ It's not just the temperature... it's the humidity too! 🌡️💧

The temperature might be lower today than it has been over the last few days, but the humidity is currently sitting at 92%.

That means dogs will find it much harder to cool themselves by panting, so despite the cooler temperature, the risk of overheating is still very real.

As always, I'll be assessing every walk individually and adjusting where needed. That could mean:
🐾 Walking earlier or later in the day.
🐾 Shortening walks.
🐾 Swapping walks for enrichment or home visits if conditions become unsafe.

As a professional dog walker, I don't just look at the temperature – I also check the humidity and heat index before every walk. Every decision I make is based on what's safest for the dogs in my care.

Your dog's wellbeing will always come before sticking to a schedule. ❤️

Did you know humidity can be just as important as temperature when it comes to keeping dogs safe?

🌡️🐾 How to Keep Your Dog Cool in the Heat 🐾🌡️
When temperatures rise, it's important to help our dogs stay safe and comfortable. Here are some simple ways to keep your dog cool during hot weather:
💧 Provide plenty of fresh water Make sure your dog always has access to clean, cool water. Consider placing multiple water bowls around the house and garden.
🏠 Stay in the shade Whether you're at home or out and about, ensure your dog has access to shaded areas away from direct sunlight.
🧊 Use cooling aids Cooling mats, damp towels, frozen treats, and paddling pools can all help your dog regulate their temperature.
🚶‍♀️ Avoid walking during the hottest parts of the day Stick to early morning or late evening walks when temperatures are lower and surfaces are cooler.
🐾 Check the ground temperature Hot pavements can burn paws. If you can't comfortably hold the back of your hand on the surface for 7 seconds, it's too hot for your dog.
🍦 Offer frozen treats Freeze dog-safe treats, broth, or fruit such as watermelon (without seeds) for a refreshing snack.
🌬️ Keep air flowing Use fans, open windows safely, or air conditioning where available to help keep indoor spaces cool.
💦 Wet them down safely A damp towel on their body, cooling vest, or a gentle splash in a paddling pool can help. Focus on their paws, belly, and chest rather than pouring ice-cold water over them.
🚗 Never leave your dog in a vehicle Cars heat up incredibly quickly, even on mild days.
⚠️ Know the signs of heatstroke Excessive panting, drooling, bright red gums, vomiting, wobbliness, lethargy, or collapse are all signs that your dog may be overheating and needs immediate veterinary attention.
Remember: dogs don't need long walks every day. On very hot days, mental enrichment, training games, sniffing activities, and puzzle toys can tire them out just as effectively while keeping them safe. ❤️🐕☀️
