With the summer months ahead of us and our first heatwave of 2026 coming this bank holiday weekend, it’s important to remind ourselves of ours dog’s limitations.
Dogs are much more prone to heat stroke because they cannot cool themselves down as efficiently as humans. Humans can sweat through their skin however, dogs mainly cool down by panting and releasing small amounts of heat through their paw pads. In hot weather, this often isn’t enough.

It’s important to put extra measures in place for your dog’s safety. For example, bring water on your walks, walk earlier or later in the day to avoid peak temperatures, avoid pavements and roads as the are substantially hotter than the air temperature and can burn your dogs paws.

☀️ Warm Weather Walk Update ☀️

With the weather getting warmer from Friday onwards, I may need to make some temporary changes to walk times to help keep all dogs safe and comfortable in the heat. 🐾

Where possible, walks may be moved to earlier mornings or changed to drop in visits. The wellbeing of the dogs always comes first, and I appreciate everyone’s understanding and flexibility during warmer weather. 🤎

I’ll contact clients directly if any changes need to be made to their usual slots. Thank you as always for your support! 🐶
