– And weirdly… picking these little sticky balls off my dog for 45 minutes like it’s my full-time job. 👇

In the early months, your puppy is like a sponge. The more they experience, the more they get accustomed to and comfortable with.

You basically help your puppy on their journey to be a happy, confident dog who tackles all situations without fear.

A visit to the groomers is part of that journey. Depending on the breed, your dog will have a lifelong relationship with grooming, so they need to be happy and confident when they visit.

They need to get used to the noises of the clippers, the dryer, and the shower. They need to get used to someone handling their feet, their ears, touching around their eyes.

Doing this at an early age (12 weeks onwards) means that when it finally is time for that first big girl/boy haircut (usually by 6 months old), they’re confident and not scared.

At DogBrooming in Ormskirk, I love seeing new puppies ❤️ I always make sure their experience builds trust and confidence as well as a bunch of fun of course.

You really can give your puppy the gift of confidence and a trip to the groomers will be fun instead of scary.

Whatever you do, just make sure you choose a dog groomer who prioritises health and wellbeing over just looks.

We’ve had a little shuffle of next week’s diary and, somehow, Karen has ended up with something almost mythical…
🌙 A couple of rare early-evening appointments!

So if you’re normally thinking “I’d get the dog groomed, but I’m at work when everywhere’s open” — this could be your week. 🙌

There are also a handful of daytime spaces available, with particularly good availability on Thursday, plus some room on Friday afternoon.

Perfect if your four-legged scruffball is currently looking less “pampered pooch” and more “I’ve been living independently in a hedge.” 😂🌳🐕
