🐕 Ears up, tongue out, not a care in the world.
This handsome cocker spaniel came in for an ear check and could not have been less bothered about it.
Spaniels and other long-eared breeds are more prone to ear trouble, because that heavy ear flap keeps the canal warm and humid, which is exactly what bacteria and yeast like. Late summer and early autumn is when we see most of it. Grass seeds work their way in on walks, and swimming leaves moisture behind.
Worth booking a check if you notice head shaking, scratching at one ear, redness, discharge, an unusual smell, or flinching when you touch the ear.
Ears can go from mildly irritated to genuinely painful quite quickly, so it is better to have them looked at early than to wait and see.
