The amazing lineup of dogs we had at my water retrieve workshop today 🤩

And yes we had a token terrier join the gundog crew 🤣

I am so incredibly proud and impressed with each dog and how brilliantly they all worked, I cannot wait to see the footage 📸

Your dog's nose is built different! 🐶👃

They have some incredible features that make them the super sniffers they are!

One of my favourite parts of my dogs has to be their wet noses 😍 But did you know there's actually a reason behind them?

Their noses create a thin layer of mucus that covers the outside of the nose, helping to trap scent particles and making their already incredible sense of smell even more effective! 👃✨

They also take in air through the front of their nostrils but exhale through the slits at the side of their nose. This means they don't have to recycle already-sniffed air and, as they exhale, they create tiny air currents that help disrupt and draw in new scent particles! 🤯

Basically... your dog's nose is an incredible scent-detecting machine! 🐾

Did you know your dog had a super power? 🦸

That's right it's their nose 🐽, its power is 100,000 times better than ours!

But did you know weather conditions play a huge role in how scent particles behave?

Finally we've had some rain this morning, but what this means for your dog is that damp, rainy conditions sticks scent to the ground and holds it for longer than dry, hot weather.

So if your dogs ears suddenly stop working on their usual walk, its not because their being naughty or ignoring you, they're noses are going wild with all the fresh scent thats around!

Happy National dog day everyone 🐾

We spent a few hours at The Howard Centre, demoing some fun scent work and gundog exercises, we had a lovely time and the girls smashed it.
