πΎ Please Be Careful With Your Dogs During This Very Hot Weather πΎ
The warm weather can be dangerous for our four-legged friends, so please take extra care to keep your dogs safe and comfortable.
βοΈ Top Tips for Keeping Dogs Safe in the Heat:
π Walk your dog early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are cooler.
π‘οΈ Check pavements before walking. If it's too hot for your hand for 5 seconds, it's too hot for your dog's paws.
π§ Ensure fresh, clean water is available at all times, both at home and when out and about.
π Provide plenty of shade and cool places to rest.
π Never leave your dog in a parked car β even for a few minutes. Temperatures can rise dangerously fast.
π§ Use cooling mats, damp towels, paddling pools, or frozen treats to help your dog stay cool.
πΎ Avoid vigorous exercise, ball chasing, or excessive play during the hottest parts of the day.
πΆ Flat-faced breeds, elderly dogs, puppies, overweight dogs, and those with health conditions are especially vulnerable to heat-related illnesses.
β οΈ Signs of Heatstroke:
Excessive panting
Drooling
Lethargy or weakness
Bright red gums or tongue
Vomiting or diarrhoea
Collapse or loss of consciousness
If you suspect heatstroke, move your dog to a cool area, offer small amounts of water, cool them gradually with room-temperature water, and seek veterinary advice immediately.
Let's all do our part to keep our furry friends safe and happy during this hot spell. β€οΈπΎ
