Behind the Scenes of the past week at B&G Land ☀️💦
A massive thank you to all of our incredible owners for trusting us with your precious pups during the recent scorching weather! Aside from a couple of cancellations, you absolutely flooded us with bookings—including lots of last-minute requests from owners realizing their houses were just too hot. We are so incredibly grateful for your trust.
This week was definitely unusual, and we slept a lot less due to the intense heat and heavy logistics, but watching your pups having the absolute best time of their lives at our pool parties and indoors game zone made every single second entirely worth it! We are officially exhausted, but happy because everything went perfectly, business has stayed stable, and not a single dog suffered in the heat under our care.
Here is a quick look at the actual reality of what it took to keep everyone safe, happy, and entirely chilled out:
The 30-Minute Splash Sprints:
We swapped long field sessions for carefully timed, 30-minute pool parties to get the dogs thoroughly soaked, before moving them back to the safety of the AC in our famous Doggie Bus. 🏊♂️
The Frozen Dog Room: The brand-new air conditioning unit we bought specifically for the dog room works too well. The dogs spent the week blissfully napping in total luxury while some humans were literally huddled on the couch wrapped in thick winter blankets just to survive the arctic blast! 🥶😂
The 5 AM Walking Shift:
To protect our solo walking dogs and holiday boarders, we shifted our entire walking schedule to the bright and early crack of dawn (5:00 AM!) and late into the night well after sunset to keep paws off the hot ground. 🌙⏰
The Garden Toilet Protestors:
Layered on top of everything was the hilarious challenge of coordinating the daycare contingent who firmly believe that using the garden for a toilet break is a crime against humanity. They strictly held out for their proper walks, no matter how nice and cool we made the grass so we planned in extra VIP car journeys to local shady spots! 🏛️👀
The 52-Degree Valet Service:
Once the afternoon hit, the outside asphalt was reading a scorching 52+°C. To protect those precious paw pads, we transformed into a literal canine valet service, physically lifting and carrying every single daycare dog from our door straight into their cars - yes, Labradors too! 🐶💪

The weather forecast is showing another heatwave hitting us in about a week's time! (and who knows how hot the rest of the summer will be)🔥
The good news? We are completely dialed-in, prepped, and totally ready to beat the next heatwave too. We know exactly what it takes to keep your dogs cool, happy, and fully entertained when the temperature spikes.

Navigating extreme weather is always a massive logistical and financial puzzle for a small business like ours. While we always try to be as flexible as possible with weather-related schedule changes, running top-tier cooling equipment, custom transport, and keeping our spaces safe means our overheads stay the same even when the sun spikes!
