Our Cadet group has been working really hard over the past term working on basic obedience, handler skill and developing the knowledge and understanding their puppies have of behaviour. So proud of this group and congratulations for graduating from our foundation Cadets course! 🎓

I have a few non- negotiable behaviours for when it comes time to letting my dog off lead and trusting them. Whilst they do not need to be glued to me and under my feet the entire time, before I let them off lead to explore, I want to know I have some safety protocols in place! You’ll notice all of these behaviours encourage my dogs to look for me for direction, not to become ‘Self Employed’ and go off causing trouble leaving me to shout and scream chasing after them!

It’s no secret that every dog is different and there’s no such thing as a ‘textbook dog’ but, the way we interact with our dogs influence them a lot. As owners and handlers, there are loads of things we can do to improve our dog’s lives and to make it easier for us all! The happiest dogs I see are those who are taught how to be calm, confident and understand what we are asking of them. We don’t need backflips and jumping through rings of fire, we want to enjoy and trust our dogs in all aspects of life.

This wonderful job of ours brings amazing experiences and we meet some really fun people along the way! I recently had the pleasure of being Milky’s chaperone as ring bearer at her owner’s wedding. Really fun day had by all… thinking it maybe something we add to the service list (cake compulsory)🥰
