*Stray Guinea Pigs*

A member of the public has found two guinea pigs and brought them in to our Petersfield Surgery, they are adult, entire males, very friendly and well cared for, so we are hoping they have a home somewhere and we can get them reunited!

If you think they might be your guinea pigs or you know who they might belong to then please call our Petersfield Surgery on 01730266431 or email us at [email protected]

*Stray Dog*

We have had a small, young female dog brought in to our Petersfield Surgery as a stray, found in the Petersfield area. She has a microchip but unfortunately it is not registered to an owner, and she has no collar. She has some medical issues which we have addressed but will require long term ongoing care.

If you think this may be your dog or you know who it may belong to then please contact our Petersfield Surgery on 01730266431 or email us at [email protected]

♻️ Plastic Free July ♻️

Plastic free July is a global movement towards making swaps from single use plastic items to reusable items such as coffee cups and shopping bags. Pledging to swap these items can lead to less polluted oceans and cleaner streets for us and our pets to enjoy. What will you pledge to stop using this July?

We were so touched to receive photos from one of our lovely clients. 🌸 These poppies have bloomed for the second year running from the seeds we sent when their much-loved cat, Fudge was put to sleep two years ago at 19 years old.

They told us how much they love seeing them pop up each summer, a gentle living reminder of their beautiful girl. 💗

It’s moments like these that remind us how strong the bond is between us and our pets, and how love continues to grow, even after they’re gone. 🌺🌈

Do you remember Victoria and Olivia – our veterinary nursing degree students who spent their placements with us throughout their studies? Well… WE HAVE NEWS! 🥳

We are absolutely over the moon to share that they’ve both passed their degrees and are now officially Registered Veterinary Nurses! 🎓🐾

And it gets even better… they’re not going anywhere! We’re thrilled to announce that both Victoria and Olivia have joined our nursing team permanently! 💚

Huge congratulations ladies! We’re so proud of you both. Welcome to the St Peter’s Vets Family!🌟

✨Charity of the Month✨

Pets As Therapy (PAT for short) is a national charity that was founded in 1983 by Lesley Scott-Ordish, a dog owner and passionate volunteer who understood the amazing bond between humans and animals.

Today, the charity’s vision is to ensure that everyone in the UK, no matter their circumstances, has access to the companionship of a friendly pet. PAT strive to enhance health and wellbeing in the community through the visits of dedicated volunteers with their temperament assessed pets.

The charity has over 5,000 registered volunteers who provide a visiting service in hospitals, hospices, mainstream and special needs schools, residential nursing homes, day care centres and other establishments across the UK.

Therapeutic visits by PAT Teams can bring comfort and companionship to people living in local communities who may feel isolated and lonely, help young people to improve their literacy and concentration in the classroom and can aid a patients recovery, rehabilitation and help improve mental health and wellbeing.

We’ll be sharing more later this month about how you can get involved and support this amazing charity — stay tuned! 💛

🏅Bravery Award 🏅

Meet Rocky, a 6 year old cockerpoo who suffers with epilepsy and was admitted to our Petersfield Hospital when he became very poorly. Here’s what Vet Rachael had to say about Rocky

“In early June after Rocky was being sick for over 24 hour and unable to take his epilepsy medications, he was admitted to our petersfield hospital for supportive care. Despite lots of medication he was still being sick and feeling really unwell. Some initial tests suggested he was suffering from pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas, the organ which produced insulin and chemicals needed for digestion. Rocky then had an ultrasound of his abdomen with a visiting specialist ultrasonographer Vimos, who confirmed a severe form of pancreatitis called necrotising pancreatitis. In total Rocky was in hospital for four days and had to have a feeding tube placed. He is now back home doing really well. He was very brave for all his procedures and during his stay at the hospital despite feeling really poorly."

Well done, Rocky - you were so brave and we are all incredibly proud of you! 💛
