I have the best job in the world, I couldn't wish to do anything else but the hardest thing is when my amazing clients pass away, it's gut wrenching. Over the past 6 months I've lost 4 clients, 2 only in the last few weeks.
Poppy was first to go, losing her suddenly absolutely broke me. She was only few weeks different from my Pringle, they walked together as tiny puppies & to lose her after walking her for nearly 11 years was so hard. Poppy was an absolute pleasure to look after, and her mum and dad are the best & clients for 20+ yrs
Then poor little Darcy slipped away at the grand old age of 16, she'd only been coming for walks a relatively short time but she was an absolute angel & full of life for her age.
Next was old boy Jack, he had been coming for 11 years but we'd had to stop him coming along a few months ago as it was getting too much for him. I still visited him for the odd wee stop but after slowly finding life increasingly difficult her went to sleep only a couple of weeks ago. Jack was a funny boy, never really liked me but was always happy to see me, he just wasn't really a people person kinda dog, loved his family & a few others. He looked grumpy on most of my photos but I know he loved the walks.
Then today we said goodbye to little old grumpy Dexter, a tenacious terrier with formidable disdain for anybody who wanted him to do something he didnt quite like the idea of, excepthis Dad. 15 years old, a client for 13 years & was the only dog who ever regularly tried to bite me if the mood took him! Luckily I escaped without ever getting contact with his teeth but others weren't so lucky. Yesterday he managed enough energy to climb up the stairs to greet me one last time, his tail wagged & I think he was waiting for me to take him for his walk he'd been doing for 13 years. It was both heart breaking and heart warming, heartbreaking coz I couldn't take him for a walk but heartwarming coz he came to see me even though life was hard and his energy was low. His little tail wag was everything in that moment.
Run free all my amazing clients, as the years of custom pass by, losing them becomes even harder, they become like my own. 🐾 🌈
