We had a fantastic day at Birchwood Carnival today and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along to support Safe Cats Rescue.

A special congratulations to the lovely young lad who won the skateboard on our tombola we hope you enjoy your prize! 🛹

Our stall was busy throughout the day, with our boys' and girls' lucky dips, tombola and book sale proving popular. Seeing so many people stop by to support the rescue made all the hard work worthwhile.

What many people don't realise is that Safe Cats Rescue is run entirely by just three people the founders of the rescue. Alongside caring for our own pets and the rescue cats, we deal with every rescue call, vet trip, home check, fundraising event, feral colony feeding round, lost cat report, paperwork and administration ourselves.

Before an event even begins, there are many hours spent collecting and sorting donations, preparing tombola prizes, making up lucky dip bags, loading the van, organising stock and equipment, and planning the day. Then comes setting up, running the stall, packing everything away and unloading again afterwards.

Today was a particularly long day as we booked a double stall and, unfortunately, none of the volunteers who had kindly offered to help were able to attend. We completely understand that circumstances can change, but as a small rescue, even a quick message to let us know can make a huge difference. It allows us to arrange alternative help or adjust our plans accordingly.

Despite the long hours, days like today remind us why we do it. Every pound raised helps us continue rescuing, neutering, feeding and caring for cats in need.

Thank you to everyone who supported us today. We couldn't do it without you. ❤️🐾

Oh my goodness he is like an adorable teddy bear 🧸🥰

We have noticed while he was rolling on his back he has an old cut/ wound on his chest which has scabbed over but he isnt the easiest to photo because he never sits still long enough lol

This is Loki 🐾

He’s the dad cat from our recent colony rescue and is currently being fostered by myself (Mark) as Safe Cats Rescue is completely full.

When he first arrived he was extremely nervous and unsure of human contact, and although he’s still very wary, its very early days and he is slowly learning that he is safe. Moments like this where he will stay still and allow gentle fuss while watching everything carefully are part of that trust-building process.

Cats like Loki don’t adjust overnight,

Right now we are completely at capacity and fostering cats in our own homes while we continue to care for existing cases. We are unable to take in any new cats at this time.

Please be patient with us if you message we are still helping where we can, but we simply do not have the space or resources to say yes to every request.
