Sadly we have a deceased tabby and white female cat that has been handed in. She does have an unregistered microchip - no collar and found in Brickendon. If you believe this is your cat please call on 01920 468874.

We have had a white cat brought into the practice today. If this is your cat, please contact us on 01920 468874 .

🐈‍⬛ Did you know, we run a dedicated Cats Only Clinic every Wednesday afternoon between 2 and 4pm? 🐈

It's so nice for our feline friends to have a quieter time to come and see us, it's much less stressful, both for them and their owners. With no dogs around, cats feel calmer and can have a more positive experience at the vets.

🍂🐾 Autumn is here – but so are some seasonal hazards for our dogs!

As the leaves fall and the days get shorter, keep an eye out for:

🍄 Mushrooms & fungi – some can be highly toxic if eaten.
🌰 Conkers & acorns – can cause tummy upsets and, if swallowed, potentially dangerous blockages.
🍂 Fallen leaves & plants – mouldy or decaying material can make dogs unwell.
🧪 Antifreeze – extremely toxic, even in small amounts, so keep it safely out of reach.
🎃 Halloween treats – chocolate, sweets containing xylitol, and decorations can all pose risks.

If your dog eats something they shouldn’t, contact your vet promptly rather than waiting for symptoms to develop. 🐶❤️

Stay safe and enjoy those crisp autumn walks! 🍁

Meet Pablo! 🙌 This courageous Bengal cat has overcome the odds after a terrible car accident in August, where his jaw was badly fractured. Thankfully, he has made a remarkable recovery! After successful surgery to repair his fracture and lots of TLC including having a feeding tube for nutrition and medications while he regained the ability to eat, he is thriving once again. We were so pleased to see him back last week, with his jaw fully healed, and the wire that stabilised the fracture finally removed. 🙌 🐈

Meet lovely Betty! 🐈‍⬛

Betty came to see us yesterday as she has had a troublesome cyst growing on her face which was starting to bother her. She had a general anesthetic and surgery to have the cyst removed. Thankfully, the procedure went well and we are pleased to hear she is recovering well at home. We couldn't resist getting a photo of her in her sunflower collar! 🌻
Wishing Betty a speedy recovery! 🥰

Adoptober is here!

Throughout October, we’re joining forces with the RSPCA to help more rescue animals find the safe, loving homes they deserve.

As the official veterinary sponsor of Adoptober, inspiring vet care is helping the RSPCA shine a light on the pets waiting for their next chapter and encourage more people to consider adoption or fostering.

It comes at an important time. Dog and cat populations in RSPCA centres are at some of their highest levels since the pandemic pet ownership boom, with thousands of animals currently waiting for a home.

At inspiring vet care, we believe every pet deserves the opportunity to live a happy, healthy life. By bringing together the RSPCA’s incredible rehoming work with the reach of our veterinary network, we hope we can help more animals find the people who are right for them.

Thinking about welcoming a new pet into your family? Adoptober could be the perfect time to consider a rescue animal. https://www.rspca.org.uk/findapet

And if adoption isn’t possible, fostering, sharing their stories and helping spread the word can make a difference too. https://www.rspca.org.uk/findapet/foster

Here’s to second chances, new beginnings and plenty of happy-ever-afters.
