I had a great time at BETA International the last couple of days. I attended the Gala dinner and awards evening (I even wore a dress), then spent today helping The Society of Master Saddlers on their stand as a proud member and executive committee member.
I'm now in my slippers cuddling the dog and will get back to everyone tomorrow! 😴

Ever fancied having a go at being a saddler?
Well here is your chance!
As part of The Society of Master Saddlers Taster Days, I will be holding a few of the days in my workshop in Hertfordshire.

To learn more about the days, click the link in the original post or this one below to book on to one of my days⬇️
https://www.mastersaddlers.co.uk/event/leatherwork-taster-day-hertfordshire/

Have you ever thought of a career in leatherwork or saddlery? We have just the thing.

Our Leatherwork Taster Days are running throughout the year in our members’ workshops across the country, giving you a hands-on introduction to the craft. You’ll learn the basics of stitching and working with leather and go home with a couple of items you’ve made yourself.

The first dates in June are now live:

📍 Jocelyn Danby – 5th June (Scotland)
📍 Sarah Stevens – 6th June (Somerset)
📍 Gabrielle Mitchley – 14th June (Southport)
📍 Lily Spackman – 22nd June (Hertfordshire)

💷 £130 per person
🕐 9:30am – 4:00pm

👉 Book your place here: https://www.mastersaddlers.co.uk/sms_events/

Places are limited, so early booking is strongly recommended.

Thank you to everyone who voted for me.
I'm honoured to have been voted in as a Master Craft Committee Member of The Society of Master Saddlers.
I had a lovely day in London yesterday at Saddlers' Hall, where we had our AGM and the new executive committee was announced.
I'm looking forward to the next 2 years and plan to make a difference! 🙏

Calling fellow saddlers in the trade...
The Society of Master Saddlers election is coming up.
I'd like the opportunity to be the voice of the younger members of the SMS. I think we all have suggestions or things we'd like to change/ do differently but are often worried that we won't get heard as the 'youngsters' of the Society.
I'd like to be able to change that!
My aim is to get younger members involved and feel that we have more of a say of what goes on within our society so that it continues to grow in the right direction.

If you are are SMS member, you will have got an email with the voting paper on. All you need to do is tick some boxes and send it back to the office email.

Winter!
Are you struggling with your tack going mouldy or finding that everything is going a bit soggy and sticky?
Top tips to give your tack some help through the winter months:
•Leave saddle cover off to air if it gets wet out riding
•Wipe off excess water after riding
•Don't put near a radiator to dry out
•Bring your tack home and leave in a dry room (with a dehumidifier if you have one) to draw the excess moisture out without the heat
•Don't apply leather balm whilst your tack is still damp
•Remove wet/ sweaty saddle pads from the saddles
