✨ Meet Finn ✨

Finn is one of my lovely regular clients, and at almost 11 years old, this gorgeous German Shepherd really knows how to enjoy his massage sessions. 🐾💆‍♂️

🐕 Finn responds beautifully to massage and completely relaxes into the treatment. It’s wonderful to see how much he enjoys his sessions — and even better to hear from his owner that they continue to make such a positive difference to his mobility as he gets older. ❤️

Some bonds take time… and that’s perfectly okay. 🐾❤️

I spent some time with the lovely Charlie this morning. He is a nervous rescue dog who prefers life outdoors and needs people to approach him gently, patiently, and always on his terms.

Building trust isn’t about rushing in or expecting immediate results. Sometimes it’s simply about sitting quietly, offering kindness, respecting boundaries, and letting a dog know that you’re a safe presence. 🥰

Spending time with Charlie and watching those little moments of connection grow has been incredibly special. Every relaxed glance, every step closer, and every moment of trust is a huge achievement. ❤️

For nervous and sensitive dogs, patience and understanding can make all the difference. They all deserve to feel safe, respected, and loved. 🐾

Today, Defra published its White Paper, "Our Vision for a Thriving Veterinary Sector", outlining plans to reform the Veterinary Surgeons Act and the future regulation of the veterinary sector.

This is a landmark moment for Allied Veterinary Professionals.

After more than a decade of advocacy, we're pleased to see the Government recognise AVPs as an essential part of the veterinary workforce, with future legislation expected to support additional professions within the regulatory framework.

The proposals also signal a move towards autonomous professional practice, enabling regulated AVPs to work within their own defined scope of practice, supported by professional regulation and accountability.

While there's still work ahead, the direction is clear: AVPs have moved from the margins of veterinary legislation into the Government's vision for the future veterinary workforce.

📢 What this could mean for AVPs 📢

✅ Official recognition of AVPs as part of the future veterinary workforce.

✅Recognition of the veterinary team model, not a vet-only model of care.

✅Autonomous practice within a defined professional scope, rather than reliance on delegated authority alone.

✅Clearer scopes of practice, giving greater certainty to professionals, employers, vets and animal owners.

✅Professional licensing and accountability, bringing AVPs closer to parity of professional recognition within the regulatory system.

✅A pathway towards statutory regulation through the new legislative framework proposed by the Government.

✅Greater public confidence and understanding of the role of regulated AVPs in delivering animal health and welfare.

Bottom line: This White Paper does not deliver statutory regulation today, but it creates the strongest foundation yet for the future recognition, regulation and autonomous practice of Allied Veterinary Professionals.

🐶 Yesterday I attended an Advanced Deep Tissue Massage CPD with the Canine Massage Guild , and what a fantastic day it was!

🐕 A huge thank you to Hector, who was incredibly patient and such a superstar throughout the day as the model massage dog🐾 He took everything in his stride and made it possible for me to learn and practice some fantastic new techniques.

🐶 I am excited to add these advanced skills to my treatments, particularly to help support my elderly clients and dogs who may be anxious or sensitive to handling. Continuing my professional development means I can offer the very best care and tailor treatments to each individual dog’s needs.
