Meet HDO’s very own Shetland, Bertie! 🐴

He might be the smallest member of our herd, but my word, does this boy have a BIG personality!

Bertie has absolutely no trouble keeping the big boys and girls in check, and he certainly knows how to make his presence felt!

One of his favourite pastimes is playing with Bear, our 26-year-old Suffolk. And if you happen to see Bear looking for his feed bucket, there’s a good chance Bertie has decided to run off with it and make him work for his dinner! 😂🪣 Honestly, you couldn’t make it up!

He also loves a good play with Hans, proving that you don’t need to be big to have plenty of fun and mischief in you! 🐴

But there’s more to our little character than his cheeky antics. Bertie is a wonderful pat-a-pony companion and has also been out and about showing in recent years. He really is a special little chap who brings so much character to the herd.

Small in size, HUGE in personality, and very much his own boss! ❤️

We think he’s rather wonderful… even if Bear might occasionally disagree when his feed bucket goes missing! 🤣

Keeping tradition alive…

In a world that never seems to slow down, some traditions are worth holding on to.

Here at Horse Drawn Occasions, we’re incredibly proud to be part of a tradition that stretches back generations, when heavy horses were an essential part of everyday working life.

From the strength and patience of these magnificent horses to the skill involved in preparing their harness and getting them ready for work, there is so much more to this world than meets the eye.

Every buckle, every strap and every detail has its place. These are skills, knowledge and traditions that deserve to be treasured and passed on to future generations.

Today, our horses still bring people together, turn heads wherever they go and give people the opportunity to experience a little piece of our working heritage.

Whether they’re attending a show, taking part in a special occasion or simply meeting people who have never stood beside a heavy horse before, they’re helping to keep that connection with our past alive. ❤️

For us, it’s about more than horses and carriages. It’s about preserving a piece of history, celebrating these incredible animals and making sure these traditions continue for years to come.

Because some things are simply too special to be forgotten. 🐴❤️

MEET JASMINE – A NEW CHAPTER FOR ONE OF OUR OWN! ❤️🐴

Sometimes, the biggest surprises come from the horses who have been right there with you all along! 🥹

Meet Jasmine, our beautiful 14-year-old Suffolk, who has been part of the Horse Drawn Occasions herd for many years but has only recently stepped out into the world of commercial work with us.

With our wonderful Ernie currently resting and recovering, Jasmine has been given the opportunity to get out, learn the ropes and show us what she can do. And WOW… she has absolutely blown us away! ❤️👏

🎃 Straight into the action! Jasmine has spent the last couple of weeks helping with wagon rides at the pumpkin patch, meeting the public and settling into her new role brilliantly.

🚛 Then came the big one! She had her very first experience pulling the mighty 3-tonne White & Company Pantechnicon alongside our very own Jay during filming. That’s quite an introduction to commercial work, and she took it all in her stride!

💪 A work ethic to match Jay! We already knew Jasmine, but seeing her step up and tackle these new experiences has been incredible. She has shown the same willing attitude and fantastic work ethic as our wonderful Jay, and she has gone above and beyond everything we could have hoped for.

We honestly cannot believe how well she has done. Watching a horse we have known for years discover this new side of her working life has been so rewarding, and we couldn’t be prouder of her. 🥰

Of course, we are all looking forward to Ernie making a full recovery and returning to work when he’s ready. In the meantime, Jasmine has certainly shown us that she has what it takes to be a fantastic part of the working team. ❤️

So, while she’s always been one of our own, please join us in celebrating Jasmine’s new chapter with Horse Drawn Occasions! 🌟🐴

We think she’s rather special… and we have a feeling you will too! ❤️

THE J TEAM ARE TV STARS! 🐴🎬

What an incredible day for Horse Drawn Occasions! ❤️

We had the absolute pleasure of spending the day filming with the wonderful Alan Titchmarsh, alongside the iconic White & Company horse-drawn Pantechnicon.

And who was at the centre of all the attention? Our very own Jay & Jasmine!

The J Team were absolute superstars throughout filming and certainly seemed to enjoy being in front of the cameras! 🎥✨

But we can’t tell you too much just yet… 🤫

👀 Keep your eyes peeled during November for Jay & Jasmine’s star appearance on Love Your Weekend 📺🐴

❤️ A little update on our Ernie ❤️

We thought it was time to give you all a little update on our lovely boy.

Ernie has responded really well to his antibiotics and is doing well, which we are so pleased about. 🥰

He will remain on rest from work for a further three weeks while we give him plenty of time to fully recover. Although he is feeling much better, we want to make absolutely sure he is back to his best before he returns to doing what he loves.

For now, it’s plenty of rest, TLC and taking things nice and easy. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who has asked after him and sent such lovely messages — it really does mean a lot to us.

We’re looking forward to seeing our big gentle boy back out and about when the time is right. 🐴❤️

Rest up Ernie, you’ve got plenty of fans waiting for you! 🥰
