Wow - what a fantastic few days at Loddington Coppice Equine Healthcare with Understand Horses. It is the most incredible facility, truly built with the horse’s physical and mental wellbeing as top priority. I could go on for hours about how wonderful this place is!
As for the course, that was equally fantastic. I can’t wait to put what I’ve learnt into practise. Thank you to Justine and Trudi for such a wonderful weekend.

In buckets or soaking boots is best! But, if you can’t manage that, standing on wet carpet or towels is your next best bet. At least 30 minutes is ideal but I appreciate any effort being made.

A shady place to trim and a horse that has been well fly sprayed is also appreciated!

If your farrier keeps a strict schedule or asks to shorten your horse's cycle....its not a control thing, its not a money grab...they have the best interest of your horse in mind!

For every 1 cm of excess toe length, the soft tissues—specifically the deep digital flexor tendon, the superficial digital flexor tendon, and the suspensory ligaments—have to take on an additional 110 lbs of tension. If the soft tissues are already compromised by injury, conformational flaws, strain from work load etc the effects of "being long" could be severe.

Pictured below is the growth from just a 4 week trim on my personal horse!🤯 Seasonal change, weather, exercise etc can have a significant impact on their growth....clearly seen here.
