🎀🌸🩷🪩 Hands up for some puppy spam! Meet Bear, the 16 week old chocolate Cockapoo. Bear had his first puppy groom this week as part of our puppy package. He was such a chilled boy & took everything in his stride. Bear had a spa bath, ear clean, hand blow dry, brushed & combed, paw tidy scissor trim & a face tidy with the scissors. And it goes without saying lots of love ,cuddles & playtime. My Daughter was helping out as well so credit to her. Bear was amazing! Nothing fazed him at all. See you again in a few weeks for puppy groom number 2! If you have a new puppy & are looking for a dog groomer, please get in touch to get your dog booked in for these super important puppy grooming sessions. Great for socialisation, exposure to equipment, new sounds, smells & noises. Pups have a lifetime of grooming ahead of them & sessions can start as soon a week after their 2nd vaccination. 🪩🩷🌸🎀

☀️HOT PAVEMENT WARNING☀️

Yes, even on warm days, in certain conditions, pavements can become hot enough to cause pain, discomfort and even burn your dog’s paws. Although you may think your dog’s paw pads are quite tough, it’s important to remember that they are still made of skin and can be just as sensitive as the bottom of your feet.

On sunny days, pavements can often be deceptively hot and will usually be much warmer than the air outside. Dark and dense pavements easily absorb heat from the sun and are good at keeping hold of it and releasing it slowly. Natural surfaces, including grass, tend to be much cooler, as plants release water to help cool themselves down.

🔸HOW TO CHECK🔸
The best way to tell if a pavement is too hot for your dog to walk on is to place the back of your hand on the pavement for five seconds. If it’s too painful for your hand, then it’s too painful for your dog’s paws.

If you notice that your dog is limping, looking uncomfortable or whimpering, then look at the bottom of their paws and check the temperature of the pavement with the back of your hand. If your dog’s paws look red, swollen or blistered then it’s important that you quickly take them off the hot pavement and contact your vet for advice as soon as possible.

It’s definitely a HOT one this week.
May we kindly remind you..

🔥PLEASE DO NOT WALK YOUR DOGS IN THE HEAT🔥

With weather soaring ALL this week - May we remind you with the soaring temperatures set for this week and weekend.
A dog’s normal body temperature is between 38.3°C- 39.2°C.
At 43°C a dog’s organs begin to shut down.

What you should do if your dog is in danger of heat stroke:

🐾 Move the dog out of direct sunlight
🐾 Place the dog on top of wet towels-do not cover the dog with the towels
🐾 Place the dog in front of a fan
🐾 Offer small amounts of tepid water
🐾 Vigorously massage the dog’s legs - get the circulation moving whilst lowering the risk of shock
🐾 Apply tepid to cool water to paw pads, chest & underarms
🐾 Avoid walking in direct sunlight for long periods of time.

Walk your dogs early in the morning or late at night when it’s cooler
*Use cooling equipment such as a bandanna or jacket to help keep cool

Top Tip: NEVER leave your dog in a car. Always ensure your pets have plenty of fresh water.

If you are unable to lower or control your pets temperature seek urgent veterinary advice.

If you have a very active dog we recommend a lick mat it’s a textured, food-safe silicone or rubber mat designed for pets. You spread soft foods or treats (like wet food, or dog-safe peanut butter) across the surface. Your pet licks it clean, which provides mental stimulation and reduces anxiety.

Thank you
