🐻 HAPPY GOTCHA DAY, BEAR! 🐻

Okay… we’re a few days late with this one! 😂 Bear officially came home on Friday, but as you can probably imagine, life with an 8-week-old Cocker Spaniel has been a little full on ever since! 🤎

We had visions of getting the perfect cute little “Gotcha Day” photo of Bear sitting nicely in his basket under his bunting…

Bear had other ideas. 😂

Apparently looking directly at the sky and refusing to acknowledge the camera was much more appropriate. We’re quickly learning that everything is done on Bear’s terms! 🐻😂

He’s spent the last few days settling in, exploring absolutely EVERYTHING, causing plenty of mischief, having lots of cuddles and, of course, starting to meet some of the daycare gang. 🐾

On Tuesday he met Nola, a fully grown Rottweiler, who was perhaps slightly less enthusiastic about their new friendship when Bear decided biting her tail was an appropriate introduction. 😂 Today he’s been getting to know puppy Asia and Gus too… and it’s safe to say it has been utter carnage in the cutest possible way. 🐶🤎

At this rate, we have a feeling Bear is going to be running the daycare before long… or at the very least annoying everyone until they agree to play with him! 😂

It’s certainly been a whirlwind few days, but we’re absolutely smitten with our little chocolate menace already. 🤎

So… we did a thing. 👀🐾

We’ve been keeping possibly the worst-kept secret ever… we’ve met, fallen completely in love with a PUPPY and would love to introduce you all to Bear 🐻❤️ — the newest addition to our family.

At only 6 weeks old, he’s still too little to come home with us just yet, but when he does, we’d kindly ask all of our daycare and boarding dogs to be on their very best behaviour and show the new boy the ropes…

🤣 Who am I kidding?!

It’s going to be absolute chaos — just chaos of the cutest possible kind.

We went to see Bear again this afternoon and what a difference a week makes. He’s finding his feet now, much more playful, inquisitive and already showing us a little bit of that Cocker personality.

We’re absolutely smitten. ❤️

His breeder describes him as “a wee chunk” and judging by the size of those paws, I think we’ve got our hands full! 😂🐾

We can’t wait to bring you home, Bear. 🐻❤️

🐾 WE’RE BACK TOMORROW! 🐾

After a lovely week off, we’re back to work tomorrow and we genuinely can’t wait to see all our pooches again! ❤️

We’ve spent some much-needed time away camping with the family, making the most of the weather and keeping ourselves very busy with plenty of activities and adventures. 🏕️☀️

As nice as the break has been, the house has been far too quiet wothout the gang. 😂🐶

Batteries recharged, TentBox packed away and we’re ready to get back to the walks, daycare, madness and wagging tails tomorrow.

Can’t wait to see the gang again — we’ve missed you all! 🐾❤️

Today’s Adventure Day took us to Pressmennan Woods for more of a hike than a walk… and what an adventure it was! 🌲

This was Marley’s very first Adventure Day, and judging by how much he slept for the rest of the afternoon, I think it’s safe to say he approved! 😴

It might be a little off the beaten track, but it’s worth every mile. Thick woodland, winding trails, endless new sights and smells… a dog’s paradise.

One of my favourite things about taking out a bigger pack is getting to know every dog’s personality. You can tell who’s about to start a game of chase, who’s the explorer, who’s keeping everyone in check… sometimes you can see it all unfolding before it even happens! 🤣

On the way back, a couple stopped us to say how well-behaved all the dogs were. We didn’t have the heart to tell them how many treats it took 😂

I hope all the pooches had an amazing day. I’m pretty sure there’ll be a few very sleepy dogs sprawled out around East Lothian this evening! ❤️🐾

Wednesday just got a whole lot more fun! 🐾

Today we welcomed two new personalities to the Oscar’s K9 family for daycare.

First up was Asia, our beautiful Rottweiler puppy. ❤️

Firstly, apologies to this morning’s owners if you ended up a little late for work… it’s not my fault! 🤣 Everyone wanted to stop for a cuddle with Asia before leaving. I don’t think she realised she’d become the welcoming committee on her very first day! 🐶❤️

She’s an absolute beauty. We’d almost forgotten just how much fun puppies are. One minute it’s zoomies, exploring every new sight and sound, and the next… fast asleep after 15 minutes of non-stop adventure! 😂

We also welcomed Gus, who’ll now be joining us every Wednesday. We’ve already had the pleasure of meeting Gus on our Adventure Days, and he’s every bit the Labrador you could imagine. He somehow knew exactly where the treats were kept within minutes of arriving, was full of enthusiasm from start to finish, and I’m still not convinced he knows how to keep his tongue in his mouth! 🤣

We’re so excited to have both Asia and Gus join the gang.

🐾 Adventure Day – Saturday 1st August 🐾

Hey guys, we are having an adventure day next Saturday (1st of August). Hopefully the weather is more normal for us than recently 😂.

We’re limited on the number of dogs we can take, spaces are first come, first served — and they go quickly! 🎉

“Ah, you’ve got a devil dog.”

Those were the first words a man said to me this morning as he walked towards us.

I looked down at Nala and simply said, “Sit.”

As always, she sat immediately, looked up at me and gave me her famous “Rottie smile”.

I smiled back and replied,

“Her name’s actually Nala.”

He looked at her and said,

“You should watch them. They’re aggressive, and she’s off lead.”

I asked him,

“What makes her aggressive? Is it her shiny black coat, her size, or the fact she listened instantly to my command?”

He paused before saying,

“Aye… you know what I mean. Those dogs could rip someone apart… but she looks sound.” 🤦🏻‍♂️

So I asked,

“Have you ever owned a Rottweiler?”

“No, but my mate’s pal’s son had one.”

That pretty much told me everything.

I explained that dogs aren’t born aggressive. Responsible ownership, proper training, socialisation and understanding the breed are what shape a dog’s behaviour.

Nala is a perfect example of that.

I’ve been walking her since she was a puppy, and she is an absolute pleasure to be around. Her recall is fantastic, she’s calm, friendly, and genuinely loves people.

Sadly, this isn’t the first time I’ve seen people cross to the other side of the path, pick their children up, or assume the worst simply because she’s a Rottweiler.

It’s a reminder that some breeds are still judged long before they’re understood.

At Oscar’s K9 Pet Services, every dog is treated as an individual. We don’t judge them by their breed, size or appearance. We get to know their personality, build trust with them, and make sure they’re safe, happy and well-trained.

And just to reassure anyone wondering—I always assess every situation. If another dog is on lead or I think there’s any reason to clip a lead on, I do exactly that. Safety will always come first.

My two little helpers came along on today’s dog walks…and we headed to Unleash the Dogs judging by these photos, they were far more interested in testing out the agility equipment than helping me with the dogs! 😂🐾

I think it’s fair to say they enjoyed the obstacles just as much as the dogs did!

We really are so lucky to have facilities like this just a few minutes from us. It’s a fantastic, secure space where the dogs can run, explore, build confidence and, most importantly, have loads of fun.

Days like today remind me how lucky we are to have places like this right on our doorstep. ❤️🐶

🥵 It’s a warm one today!

The gang were out much earlier than usual to beat the heat. 🌡️🐾

One of the best parts of doing this for over 5 years is discovering all the hidden little gems that most people never find. Today we swapped the main path for a proper jungle expedition through some lovely dense woodland. 🌿😂

The dogs absolutely loved it… me? Less so. I’m now sporting a collection of scratches, covered in nettle stings, and I’m fairly sure I wrestled half the forest getting through! 🤦‍♂️

The only downside to these beautiful shaded spots is that they’re also the perfect place for ticks, as they thrive in warm, damp environments.

Everyone had plenty of hydration breaks and has had a thorough tick check before heading home, but we’d really appreciate it if you could give your dog one more quick once-over this evening, just to make sure we haven’t missed any tiny hitchhikers. 🕷️🐶
