Life with your dog can feel overwhelming when you’re living with behavioural challenges every day.

Maybe walks have become stressful because your dog pulls on lead or reacts, and now you avoid situations because of their behaviour. Maybe you feel anxious about letting them off-lead, or life at home is chaotic because your dog struggles to settle and switch off. You might even feel like you’ve tried everything but nothing seems to stick.

One of the biggest things I’ve learned working with dogs is that meaningful behaviour change rarely comes from quick fixes or isolated training sessions. It comes from understanding the dog in front of you, building the right foundations, and applying training consistently over time in a way that works in real life.

That’s exactly what my training process is designed to do. Everything is built around helping you and your dog create calmer, more reliable behaviour that lasts beyond the training session itself.

No quick fixes, no ‘perfect dog’ expectations. Just structured support to help you better understand your dog and make everyday life together feel easier and more enjoyable.

If any of this resonates, you can DM me or apply online via my website to start your training journey.

And if you’d like to discuss your specific challenges or understand more about my services and how I work feel free to drop me a message and we can arrange a call 😊

Hi, I’m Helen, the trainer behind Ruby K9.

A lot has changed since I started the business almost two years ago, so I thought it was about time I reintroduced myself.

My journey into dog training began in 2023 after leaving behind a 20 year corporate career in search of something more meaningful. Getting my own dog Ruby changed everything for me and ultimately set me on the path toward working with dogs.

I started out as a structured dog walker but soon progressed into offering training walks when I realised how many dogs needed support with behavioural challenges. This eventually developed into working directly with owners as I learned that real behavioural change only happens when training is applied consistently across daily life.

Since launching Ruby K9 I’ve been quietly working with a growing number of dogs and behaviour cases, alongside investing heavily in my own education through mentorships, workshops, seminars and shadowing experienced trainers. All of this has helped me develop much more clarity around how I approach behaviour, the kind of trainer I want to be, and the type of results I want to help owners achieve.

My focus now is helping dogs and their owners build calm, reliable behaviour that actually works in real life, not just in a training session. I support owners through various challenges including reactivity, lead pulling, poor recall, over-arousal, lack of engagement, adolescent behaviour and general struggles with everyday life.

My approach focuses on understanding the whole dog, building strong foundations first, and helping owners develop the skills, structure and communication needed to create lasting change. Ultimately, my goal is to help dogs and owners navigate the world together with more confidence, freedom and enjoyment.

I still love walking dogs but these days my packs are made up of dogs who have graduated from my training programmes, giving them the opportunity to enjoy structured adventures in different environments whilst maintaining and progressing their skills alongside other trained dogs.

I feel incredibly lucky to do work that allows me to help dogs and owners enjoy life together again, and I’m excited to share more of that journey moving forward.

Thanks for being here ❤️

When Rachel first came to me daily life with Bear felt overwhelming.

This wasn’t about quick fixes or surface-level training. It was about understanding behaviour, building skills, and creating a life that felt calmer and safer for both of them.

Real change takes time, structure, and commitment.

I’m grateful to Rachel for trusting the process and for allowing me to share their journey 🫶🏻

Happy Christmas everyone! 🎄Hope you all have the best day 🫶🏻 xx

Training walks come in all different shapes and sizes! The sessions are completely tailored to the dog, what we need to work on and where they are at in their training journey.

For Leo this was an urban adventure to really challenge him and provide the opportunity to practice all the skills and behaviours he has learnt in a more challenging environment.

Navigating new sights, sounds and smells is tricky for dogs but I’ve been working with Leo and his owners for some time now. He knows the drill in all the usual walking locations so I wanted to work him in a busier urban environment to generalise and proof everything he’s learnt whilst building resilience and confidence.

We practiced engagement, lead walking, obedience and calm settling with a nice little play session at the end to help shake off any stress he felt after the experience. He smashed it 🙌🏻

Love bringing my amazing clients together for group training!

There’s something really special about seeing owners not just working hard with their dogs, but also cheering each other on.

These sessions aren’t just about training, they’re about community. A safe, structured space where clients can put all the skills from our private sessions into practice around real-life distractions, other dogs, and like-minded people on the same journey.

Whether it’s building confidence, working on neutrality, or proofing foundations, this is where things start to click. You’re not just training your dog… you’re becoming a stronger team 💪

🌟Socialisation in a controlled setting
🌟Confidence building (for dogs and humans!)
🌟Environmental exposure
🌟Neutrality around dogs & people
🌟Obedience in real-world situations
🌟Impulse control
🌟A chance to truly progress your training journey

These sessions are open exclusively to my clients and offer ongoing support, guidance, and a community that’s got your back 🙌🏻
