START EARLY

The habits you build from day one can help shape the dog they become.

🌎 SOCIALISE EARLY

3–13 weeks is a crucial socialisation window.

Expose your puppy calmly and safely to:

People, dogs & animals

Different places & surfaces

Sounds, sights & experiences

Socialisation = exposure, not forced interaction.

If it's too much, create distance.
Set them up for success.

🎓 TEACH THE BASICS

Start early with: Sit • Stay • Lie down • Leave it • Drop it • Recall • Stop • Yes • Eye contact • Settle

🧘 NURTURE CALM

Reward the behaviours you want to see: Calm • Resting • Settling • Waiting • Four paws on the floor

Teach “bed/place” and calm greetings.

👀 BUILD CONNECTION

Teach your puppy to check in with you.

Eye contact → praise → reward.

🐾 TEACH INDEPENDENCE

Your puppy doesn't need to follow you everywhere.

Encourage independent play, rest and settling.

❤️ REWARD THE GOOD

Catch them being good.

Praise and reward the moment they get it right.

↪️ REDIRECT THE WRONG

Puppies are learning.

Calmly interrupt unwanted behaviour, show them what you do want, and reward the right choice.

✋ PREVENT PROBLEMS

Manage the environment.
Supervise. Puppy-proof. Use gates, pens and appropriate toys/chews.

Prevention is easier than fixing an established habit.

START EARLY.
