Learning comes to life when pupils can explore big ideas through hands-on experiences.
Our KS1 Forest School learners recently became climate scientists for the afternoon, investigating the effects of global warming through an outdoor experiment!
Working in small teams, the children created their own landscapes complete with buildings and wildlife before collecting water from the stream and adding ice to represent melting glaciers and ice caps. As the ice melted, they carefully observed and measured rising water levels, watching first-hand how changes to our environment can affect habitats, wildlife and communities.
More than just a science lesson, this outdoor learning experience encouraged curiosity and a deeper understanding of the world around them.
At Abbotsholme, we believe some of the most memorable learning happens beyond the classroom.
